wow, excellent piece. Really good. Some things I think could be improved: He's left biceps look, I don't know... unnaturally big.. especially the upper part. Also, I think the handle of the sword and the blade have different perspectives, which makes it a little odd.
Then something non-technical. You mention he's a giant.. well... I'd never realised if you didn't tell me. You could put in something (can be very subtle... doesn't need to change your composition) for comparison purposes. Cause I don't see anything that tells me he's bigger than an actual human.
Again, fantastic job. Keep posting, please. (:

Great job!

In regards to "Viking-Hearts (http://forums.cgsociety.org/member.php?u=250537)" comment about the bicep, I think if your having a problem with the proportion you could explain as to why, However, to have a bigger left arm could only result in swinging that ginormous ( it's a word now) sword around.

I do agree with the rest of what was said.

4 stars for me.

Cool

this picture is totally awesome. I loved it.

just for improvement,
I can only add small details. if you add some cool blue tint in the shadows, it will match with yellow lighting , break the monochrome composition and will strenghten the unwelcoming atmosphere effect.

and just a subjective opinion,
I understand that this is an ancient mood so everything is sand yellow, desaturated. but just to make the composition more flashy and interesting you can make one of the accessories on the giant unnaturally saturated. more alive.. this would give it more of a magical effect also will increase the contrast. just to make it more interesting.

Wow. I really like this picture. The character is well posed and stylish. Colours work great too. I wouldn't pay too much attention to the critique about the character's anatomy. I mean, the guy is green and has glowing eyes! Complaining about physique is unreasonable here, especially when he looks so fine! Keep up the good work.

woh, dude.. take it easy.. :S I don't have any problem with the proportions... The guy asked for critique, and I was trying to be useful.
I didn't mean the left biceps was bigger than the right one (besides I can't actually see the right one)... What I was trying to say is that the muscles of the shoulder usually make a "straight" line along the biceps and the pecs. Especially when the arm is extended.

In ameeba's illustration, the biceps looks almost above (relatively speaking) the shoulder. That's all.

and Wiry: With all respect, my opinion is as valid as anyone's; you can't go telling people not to listen to what I say. That's very unfair, don't you think? Mainly because I wasn't trying to put him down, I was trying to help. And hey, "Complaining about physique is unreasonable here, especially when he looks so fine!", THAT doesn't make much sense. Because it's fantasy you don't take anatomy serious?? It's obviously an anthropomorphic figure, you MUST consider anatomy... especially if ALL the rest of the body has a perfectly recognizable human anatomy.

We are all here to learn and improve, try to be more tolerant for people with different opinions. :hmm:

Didn't read earlier replies so someone else might have posted this. There is some loss of depth in the shoulder-chest-bicep tie-in area. You did great on the muscles though.

Also the hand holding the shield is too small, I understand you were trying to emphasise perspective and probably made it smaller on purpose but it's still too small given the angle of the rest of the painting.

Neat colors, good job really. As an illustration it looks great so I'm just picking on small details.
