View Full Version : Scene: Warehouse
dandavis 03-24-2003, 06:08 AM Ok, I received such a great response from my last thread that I thought I'd post another link to a different render of mine. I've been doing this for about a year now and havn't felt comfortable showing my work to you "pros" until now. I've known that this site is mostly full of pros and have shy'd away from showing my work here until now. I guess that I'm ready for to hear what you guys have to say about my renders now.
I'm really looking to improve all aspects of my work. Lighting, textures, modeling, etc. so let me have it.
Please give me your honest opinions of my work. Good and Bad, I can take it.
I can't get the file size down to an acceptable size so once again, I'm posting a link. Comments are appreciated both here and at renderosity.

It doesn't. Nice textures, but it's lacking atmosphere & mood. Try with different lighting setups.

Thanks Hammer, I guess you could be right. I havn't been in many warehouses so I can't really say difinitively yes or no. Thanks for the suggestion. -- dano

Nice materials, but i dont understand your lighting. I don't care is there four or one light in that warehouse, but it doesn'tlook like those tlights are on at all. Like how can they be so grey and not even really lighting the room. Or is that light coming from somewhere else.
Another thing is, if you just thing the image. There is nothing really interesting there. It's nice but where is the point? Hope you understand what i mean.
It's so easy to give feedback...

Yea, Larson, that seems to be the general opinion, the lighting is off and coming from no apparent source and the lack of interest also. I guess, in retrospect, it is a bit boring, isn't it. Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it! -- dano

I would try to place the lights in different positions, the scene is not bad, but the feeling is flat. shadows, more illuminated and darker zones would help.
Good luck!

Thanks slime! Yea, I'll be re-doing the lights there.

this is a nice image, I would try some different lighting as said above, and also it looks like some of your objects float off the floor a little. Other than that looks good !

Wow, this has been incredible. I can't tell everyone how much I appreciate all the feedback. Thanks Low(something else, sorry), Yea, the lighting needs some work. I'm going to post links to all my future renders here. Although I really, really, really appreciate the feedback I get at Renderosity, it's all generally positive with little in the way of suggestions on how to improve (it's really good for the ego, though) :) Anywho, thanks again! :applause: :applause:
