Wouw, you must be fed up with all these great crits but how else could it be ? Not only you have great skills in modelling and texturing but you also have a very "stylish style" ! ;)
I think we all learned a lot seing the evolution of your character.
Well done. :)

Yep...outstanding model. Really looking forward to a full scene with this dude. I must admit that I'm still a big fan of your space marine (one of my fav pic of all time!) but this guy here comes in a close second :)

Wow, i like the textures, and i LOVE the lighting and although i know you're not done yet i think that it's worth noticing that the specular highlight on the mech-arm is not to convincing (although the spec Highlight on the fingerpieces is nice) but the one on the main arm (the big arm piece) might be a zinch too washed, i think.
i would guess that it might not be the material islef but it might be the way the surface is positioned in relationship to the light and the camera , but if it isn't that then i think that the surface might look nicer with a smaller spec roll off ( i don't know if i'm too technical) but anyway it just makes that specific part look off in relationship to the rest of the image.

Just a thought

sincerely

ps i love the work on the skin shader !!! :)

Absolutely gorgeous model Pascal. Kudos from the bottom of my very jealous heart :)

I'd definitely work the textures in a lot more if you're gonna finish him. He needs all sorts of color variance in the flesh tones to really bring him to life, and that mech arm so needs a specular breakup, but any effort for this guy is worth it. It's just is so gorgeous.

looks fabulous, I like the subtle colors, I think its part of pascel's style, bu that glove does need some more of the light's attention.
nice finish!

Ah, Pascal - That was close to what I meant. It looks as if you just started to texture this guy, not already finished. I kinda meant this level of graphical detail -
From my unfinished entry: (posted as a links rather than images...)

And I know you can do that quality, if not better. And I believe this character would benifit greatly from it.

I hate to be a nitpicker on a otherwise great model, but monochromatic textures will only get you so far. :)

Later.

So how & when is the voting gonna start ??? This is definitely the best IMO, so stylish and clean looking.

I just gotta say tho' I reckon it was Matt Clark who kicked off the high standards... So should there b a prize 4 setting exceptional standards ?

Lets hope he will make the next compo ???

Agreed :D I posted my WIP long before my model looked good! (I think I was one of the first to post :P)

Pascal - I have to say that I've loved your model all the way, but those textures don't do anything for me... :(

I did a little bit of texture work on my Pirate, but it certainly wasn't up to the standard of the rest and I left it. Sometimes I think there's a tendancy to think that 'textures is better than no textures', but bad textures can ruin a good model. I think good texturing should really add to the model, taking notice of the contours and forms, and adding to that. This model almost looks textured 'just for the sake of it'. I don't mean that to be as cutting as it sounds, but having loved the model thus far I was dissapointed by the textures.

so matt r u gonna b back 4 the next competition then ???

It's a shame that there's only 1 winner .... how about on the least amount of poly's ?????

posters sound cool... why not do a line up of the finished characters an sell it though cgchannel or summat?

the winner of course gets to be bigger an in the middle :D or own their own...

i'd buy them for sure!

I'm tellin you Pascal.... I wannnnt a poster.

I think a wip poster could be cool too, for eg. you could have a progression from the beginning to end (kinda like Martins bully pic) with some wires and fancy background stuff. Just an idea :)

I'm looking at my wall's of my ever shrinking office, and thought of an idea .... what not create smaller/ better quality, glossy pics, I almost think that would kick *ss , then people could have more of their favorite works to look at without having to hang them on their ceilings.

Don't get me wrong I still love a good poster, but why not sell both??

..just an idea....
