Great work by Weta :applause:
I wouldn't have expected anything else with the superb work done on Gollum, and ofcourse the Massive war at Helms Deep.
Did they get any more oscars ? They certainly deserve it.

Yea congrats, and all that jazz (TM).
I really hope ROTK wins best picture and best director next year, they owe it to Jackson. That Chicago nonsense really bothers me. (I have a phobia when it comes to musicals).
I noticed nobody from the FX department thanked Andy Serkis for the Oscar. That's just not right, unless they didn't consider Gollum a Special Effect. Glad they thanked the animators though, animators never get enough recognition.
BTW, anyone seen The Pianist? I haven't seen it yet, but I think I'll check out what all the fuss is about.

Congratulations WETA, PJ and anyone else even remotely connected to Lord of the Rings. Were it up to me you would dragging those statuettes away and using them for paper weights.
LoTR really feels like the people's movie(s), thank you for bringing it to us!

While I'm happy the Weta team won I also think Peter Jackson should be dragged out into the street and beaten unmercifully for allowing Two Towers to be raped beyond all recognition from the original story, I'm sorry but you dont rewrite Tolkien. With the Fellowship they made the plot changes they had to for the sake of bringing it to the screen, but Two Towers was ridiculous and the wargs looked like S**T. I might have been able to handle it if they hadnt taken Faramir, arguably one of the most noble characters in the story and turned him into a raging a$$hole. And whats with the Ents saying they wont help and then when Treebeard finally decides to call for his brothers about 10 times as many then were at the council show up ...and they come out of nowhere. The more I see the two Towers the more I dislike it and the more I worry that ROTK will be butchered as well, you can almost certainly count out Ghan-Buri-Ghan and his clan, I wouldnt be surprised if they dont even take the paths of the dead. Sorry folks but I just dont understand how they could make Fellowship so superbly, ( my favorite movie of all time, just so you know why im so upset) and then go and turn the Two Towers into there own horrible thing.
I shudder to think what would have happened without Andy Serkis, Gollum most certainly saved the day.

Tell us how you really feel BabaYaga. :)
I agree with most of what you said.
But I think Peter Jackson will go all out on the 3rd movie. He does know that more people are upset about the 2nd movie.
Congrats to Weta!
It will be a tough one for next year, too many potentials:
X2
T3
Matrix 2 & 3
Hulk
LOTR:ROTK
we should have a poll at the end of this year after these movies have come out.
I think ROTK will win best picture and best director next year. They couldn't give it to him for the first 2 (they had tough competition too). As long as Peter keeps with the book and makes the movie as dramatic as the book.

Well done to Weta :applause:
Of course they would win for vfx though - anyone else winning would have been a travesty of justice ;)

the weta team needs an oscar show for themselves...
but since they cant get that, congradulations, they definitely deserve it.

the only travesty is that Harry Potter and the Chamber of secrets didn't win this, it wasnt even nominated, while it contained effects I would consider not only equal too, but in many cases surpasing TTT.
