View Full Version : Female Demon. (nudity)

Why hello there CGtalk, long time no see! I decided to start a new painting for myself as I finally have a brief break between jobs, and thought maybe you guys could toss your thoughts at me?

About a year ago I did a pencil drawing which seems to be consistant inspiration for me [link] (http://perfectpencil.com/sketch/perfect.jpg) . The anatomy is weird, there are a ton of errors all over...but the character enchants me to no end. So i decided to do a new version of him, but to spice things up I decided to change him into a women and see how he fairs as a demon of the fairer form.

Any suggestions you have are greatly appreciated. No reference used so anything off about anatomy please, please let me know. I still have some more work to do with lining before i start filling in with color and mass. Preferably I'd like to knock out any anatomic issues before i start that. :)

nice start, i think her torso from left side is too much ahead.

What do you mean "too much ahead"? Too big? Someone tossed out a comment on conceptart.org that her pelvis might be a smidge too sharp. Hopefully color fixed that, if not i'll go back and adjust.

Anyhow, first splash of color. Still plenty to do. :)

This is looking really good so far. I'm especially loving the pose, it's very dynamic.
I shall be watching!

This is looking very good. I really like this character of yours.
Keep it going

Thanks for the support guys. :) I remade her face to fit better anatomy. Still mid progress but its my update for the night. :D

Those eyes are looking pretty awesome!

I *think* i may be done with the face for now. :)

now you've cut the pelvis off completly. put some of it back, it will greatly enchance the movement of the mass ;)

the drawing itself is quite brilliant (love the volumeous tail and lucheous hair), but when it comes to painting it's actually smart to first try simple value-scetch. you can always add color later, so it won't get on your way :) (meaning that i advise you to use some overall gradient. for example right now the feet and the face are quite the same brightness wich flattens the depth out of the pic)

happy painting:)

The brush i'm using needs the white background to work properly, otherwise I wouldn't use such a bright background. (it is a varient of Alien1452 (http://www.alien1452.com/)'s watercolor brush. Usually i like to work with a nuetral background. It might be kinda hard to look at while a WIP but the white BG won't be in the final piece. ;)

Another splash of color. What I did with the tenticles is hard to see (because of the white) so i included a close up too. I just need to do more work to make the bone look like it is inside the tenticle, not sitting along the surface.

And the leg closer up.

Looking really hot I like it very much.

Thanks. :)

More color, and an easier-on-the-eyes background. She seems to pop more without the white.

Looking great! The first time I saw the bone-tenticle things I wasn't so sure, but now I see them this far advanced I love 'em! It's a really cool concept and it looks awesome.
Can't wait to see more!

I like thew style of the legs, but you could use some more contrasting shading here I believe.

Good pose.

I love the transluscence of the tentacles now, they really look like jell-o with the majenta highlights, it makes an interesting contrast with the harshness and sharp edges of the left hand. I can't wait to see where you take this. My only change thought is the eyes - I really prefer the pupil-less version of the original sketch. What if you made the whole eyball out of the gel material, with just a highlight where the light hits them?

Rounding the final stretch. Any suggestions on how to make this girl better? Going to work on a background next, nothing too intrusive as this is mainly a portrait.

Looking fantastic, no crits here. I can't wait to see what you produce for a background!

Made some alterations per advice from some friends on conceptart.org. Still need to do the color layer for the foot, but hopefully the anatomy is accurate this time around. :)

I like it very much but her right leg really bothers me. Looks like her right hip is dislocated. From this angle there should be more of her buttock showing.

Even after the correction i posted?

I just looked at it for the first time today, so yes. If you can do a quick paint over try sketching out her skeleton -- might make it more clear. Considering the angle of her body relative to the angle of her leg it's a very uncomfortable position, but then ... she's a demon. :)

I'll see what i can do to fix that.

Ok all finished. :)

Posted in my gallery and submitted for the 2D section. :)
