Title: ms pac-man
Name: Jon Ball
Country: United Kingdom
Software: Blender, FreeHand, Photoshop

Ms pac-man defends her young

This image was created in blender 2.44 using lots of nodes for textures to get the aged look

I was aiming to get a feel of an underwater type environment, but wanted to keep the location and story a little ambiguous

Awesome. Reminds me of something that could be exhibited at iam8bit.

Thats funny, reminds me of pixel art but on 3D (does that make sense?) I mean for the simplification but at the same time its detailed, good work

I really like this!

Personally, I feel the composition could be a little more exciting - some more variation in the positions & maybe some silhouetted ghosts in the back to show more depth... But it's an original & interesting take on the subject.

Top stuff!

Gonna agree with AJ on the composition, but overall it's one hell of an image. Always nice to see pro level work from the Blender community. How crazy are your shader networks, and was it rendered entirely in the Internal renderer?

One thing that really bothers me: the title is "Ms" pacman but I see no bows on any of the little biteys. They all look like Pac Jr's. I can understand removing it and the lipstick, I suppose, in an age where feminism is more prevalent than when the original game came out, but she needs a more feminine defining characteristic imo.

Thanks for the crits. The image is all Blender internal, using AO and node shading, there are about 7 layers of textures on each ghost, all of which where created in photoshop, the same textures where used for the eyes, just in a different way.
