Ok so this is basicly an extended day to night matte. Problem is I'm almost there, but I feel like there's something wrong/missing and I can't figure out what to add or correct...so please help :d :)

Any kind of suggestion is appreciated, I might find the 'evrika' in any one :D

PS: Correcting the perspective was a nightmare....maybe someone is kind enough to teach me a quick/good way to correct it....I've used perspective and skew on individual elements until I became frustrated :D

PS2: I bet the lamp posts are one of the issues, they create a second focal point in contrast with the moon....problem is i wanna keep some light and...the moon...

welcome, nice idea here and well done, I have some suggestions here
I would definitly add some highlights to the top of the mansion, and trees, the moon you have here is a strong light source and you can take advantage of this to add detail to the whole painting, the light from the balcony just does not look beliavable, try to make it interact with the actual architecture detail , shadows, some highlights
very nice work I hope you work on this issues, I will belooking forward to see it again

Yeah I agree about the lights. It kinda just looks like a blob of light right now, carve it out in the building like shadows and where it might catch the lips of the buildings. But looks like a great piece so far. :)

Thanks for the suggestions James; gonna add some highlighs on the roof tomorrow, I knew I forgot something :D (tho it was on the list hehe)

About the balcony, yes, it looks awfully fake :( guess i have to sit back a while and think about it.

Gonna work more tomorrow, keep the suggestions coming and thanks!

Edit: I've abbandoned the front lit version because realistic lightning on the building - if done 100% realistic, breaks the mood and doesn't go with my original intention. See the update in the following post

This versions are more towards my original intetion:

A) With more fog/mood/atmosphere

B) Less fog/mood, more sharp and cold

So let me know what version you like more! I personally prefer A) but it might be just my love for HDR :D except for correcting texture issues, I think I'll call it final, but let me know if you have any further suggestions, would be very appreciated

-Corrected perspective on some of the elements
-Corrected texture issues
-Combined version A) with version B) (kept fog/mood at the top)

I'm think I'm almost there...what do you guys think?

PS: can you help me find a proper name? :D

really cool improvement I would suggest something in the near foreground so you have more depth and make it more interesting and complex

Suirebit I'm curious on how you "lit" up the tree like that.

My guess would be erasing some of the dark layer so the lighted orginal layer would show through? It's probably more complicated than that but I'm a noob at this matte stuff so that's all I could think of.

Thanks

camach> that would be one way of doing it, yes, but as I like things more complicated (and controlable :D) I've created a copy of that area on top of everything and adjusted it (levels, color and a mask to carve out some areas)

yeah, so it seems I've "lied" about being final, I couldn't help myself not to make a bit adjustement to light; I think now it has more depth and it's as it should be (final :D)....:)

I've really enjoyed watching your progress with integrating the moon and dealing with the lighting issues. Good work!
