i tried to do cigaret smoke using afterburn but i couldnt, i dont know how??, so am wondering if fume fx does the job?

They can both do the job quite well -- you just have to know what you're doing. :) If memory servers correctly there is a tutorial that comes with afterburn for doing just cigarrete smoke, however I could be thinking of a dvd. Fume would look a lot better in terms of the motion...and since it's such a light density smoke after having used both I'd go for the fume route if at all possible.

I believe there is a tutorial to do cigarette smoke using max's particles. I've done smoke like this for past projects and it works very well.

there's a spectacular cigarette smoke tutorial in Pete Draper's Deconstructing the Elements book, which is straight up the most essential book in any Max artists' library. :)
