View Full Version : Odd modeling question....perhaps..

Well, I am not really sure if this is an odd question but...:hmm:

I like modeling from the sketches I draw when doing humanoids, specially clothed ones. However, I am wondering if anyone makes the person first, and then models the clothing or armor over it?

If so, why?:surprised

Dunno about the armor  , but i think it's easier to model a human and put some cloths on him using plugins like SyFlex rather than modeling a human with clothes using the normal way.

Armor is different because clothes change their shape when your character moves - armor is usualy heavy and made from non deformable stuff like metal so you don't need to simulate it's moves.

I just finished clothing a character i did just as a body. I found that the advantage to doing things this way was that I used a duplicate of the body to create the clothing. That way you dont have to really model much extra, just transform the body segments into clothing, add edges, etc.
