5th July 2007 - 3D-Palace Intl has released a new site for 3d artists
and animators that allows members to upload and share their video using
a streaming embedded player. The video can be uploaded using a number
of formats, once on the server it is re-encoded and resized and added to
a library that can either be for public or private view.
The purpose of the site is to allow artists and animators to be able to
collaborate by sharing their animations and reels with each other as
well as witath prospective employers. Members wishing to host their
showreel on the site are welcome to do so by all means - ReelDump also
allows comment and rating by peers - also moderated. Reels may be
posted to, or embedded on, any site.
Uploaded video can be up to 100 meg in size - currently it is resized to
640x480 resolution (or its equivalent aspect based size) with a high
bitrate to maintain quality. Uploaded video can be posted to personal
websites, forums and blogs with no restrictions. Depending on the
popularity of this resource, it will be moved to a larger and faster
European server for the Autumn(fall) however it will be able to manage
traffic from the CG community for the first three months during its
monitoring period. Please note that during the testing period there may
be times when the site is slow, please be patient.
ReelDump will remain a free resource for the forseeable future -
supported primarily by 3d-Palace and also supported via non intrusive
advertising revenue. Limitations on content upload means that the
content of the system is limited entirely to 3D and Animation related
video only - uploading of non relevant, illegal or obscene material is
prohibited and fiercely administrated in both the public and private areas.
