hi!
is there any way to (transform - soft spring) constraint a ncloth object in only 1 dimension (like only Y) or any workaround?
would be very helpful!

Create a point to surface constraint to a simple 1 poly plane. Then make the tangentStrength high and the strength low on the constraint. Then tangent strength will keep the angle of the constraint link with the plane from changing, effectively restricting the range of motion to 1 dimension(along a line). Note that tangent strength also works with component to component constraints as long as one of the components is a face.

Another option is to do a slide on surface constraint to a plane and make the plane long and skinny, however you might want a second constraint for the spring effect. Note that you need service pack 1 to fix a problem where the slide on surface constraint sticks when it hits a border edge. (otherwise you could do instead constrain to two planes at right angles to each other so it can touch the edge)
