Here is a very rough concept sketch...the idea is about Sky Fishers...they have a boat that travels in the clouds propelled by fireworks and the cat character gets thrown out with a net to catch birds...so here is my rough sketch for the illustration...enjoy

original idea, this cat is being thrown out from the ship and catching birds in his net.

this is the same idea except, he is catching a rat creature with wings.

this is another concept that i thought of and a possible change?? this is a panda and girl being chased by robots down an alley. in this version the panda is realistic.

I would like to know which concept you like the most, and that will be the one i do. so help me choose the best one! look forward to your thoughts :)

Hi Holly :),

Those are some really nice ideas and I see that you enjoy sketching a lot :D!

Although I truly like the images with the girl on the panda, I wouldn't immediately say that they evoke a sense of strangeness; they rather look like scenes right out of a fantasy/sci-fi movie. Not that this is a bad thing (can't wait to see the entire movie - it seems to be full of exciting stuff :D) but in the context of sci-fi, it actually seems quite "normal". And in that sense, the version with the mechanical panda appears even less strange than the one with the realistic panda (I hope that made sense).

The Sky Fishers on the other hand exhibit much more strange behaviour IMHO, as their ship is propelled by firework (very cool idea :thumbsup: ), and throwing out a cat to do the catching is just great! Both these elements represent true weirdness to me, as they are more unexpected than sci-fi like. Anyway, that's my personal view on "strange behaviour".
And to continue my rigid way of thinking :D I would say that a rat with wings is a bit more unexpected than a bird in the sky, so your second concept gets my vote :).

I hope you will have as much fun working on your entry as the rest of us will have watching it develop in something truly original :thumbsup:!

Hey Holly, very nice sketches and ideas !! and I love your "robo panda":thumbsup: , but agree with Gfxdjin, perhaps the cats catching rats idea is in a more strange behavior mood, only a comment :)

ok..well i am a slacker in the illustration area this round...a little less sketch and more paint would have been nice :P no, anyways i got busy and will probably not finish the illustration...usless i magically find the time...which i will try. Its not over til its over!! in other news i have entered a late entry in the animation section...so that is were my time is going to go...i am going to try my hardest to complete that on time..but its alot of work so we shall see...either way next challenge i am going to finish early so i dont have this problem again...
