Hey, I've been modeling a couple of hours trying to figure out how to apply a tutorial ,which was actually designed for max, to blender!
I think the model is ok for my first timer^^
Please give me any crits you can think of!
I can't figure out how to light this scene decently ! at the moment im using AO and 2 spolights (a yellowish one for the sun and a blueish one for the "sky")
any advices?

and maybe one of you knows what I should model next? something easy which I can hopefully figure out myself :)

THX!

It looks great.
I would replace the blue spot light for a blue hemi light.

Looking great so far.

I like the lighting, doesn't seem too bad [:

If you want, you can model a fence around your house and some stone pavements ?

A mail box would also seems appropriate.

Well, i think its pretty cool, I love the screenshot, looks extremely clean. Exellent. Like white chocolate so it makes me wanna eat it, by the way.

Well, considering that I have no suggestions for this model, I would like you to make a character model, using this exellent video tutorials. I tell you, I had practically NO expirience when I started, and look at me now! I know, its not the great thing, but I learned a LOT watching this episodes... this is my semi-finished character:

Guided with a drawing I made, like in the tutorial...
http://img522.imageshack.us/img522/4278/rendermf5.jpg
And that's the render. I think It needs tons of sculpting, but I don't know how to do it.

Actually Iam making a thread for noob's projects, where the purpose is to post screenshots of the project, Search for it, because i made it like 1 hour ago, and it still doesn't appear around, if else I would give you the link to it bro. But please stick around and post your productions!

watch the tutorials (http://www.ibiblio.org/bvidtute/) here

search for the character tutorial title
(press ctrl+F for IE and FireFox)

I recommend you to download them all. ALL. they are really good, I mean it. Before watching them, when somebody asks you to do a character, you normally get terified, but after watching them, you arm up in braveness and go right up to do it. It happened to me.

Hey, that looks good for just a couple of hours on your first project! Next time, think about beveling the edges so all of them aren't so sharp.

I've got a few Blender tutorials at my site (link in signature). There's also the BlenderWiki (http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Manual).

Did you just painted that pretzel!!!??? I saw your videos man! Its awesome!

Well, um, and about the HUGE shoulders, well I dont know, I just wanted to make a very big dude, maybe could be later perfectioned and apply it for a game I ddon't know, but ofcourse, I will have to learn to sculpt and do so.

Thanks for the constructive comments.

Oh yeah, definitly, I was thinking it would be better if I sculpt it, Ill try to find tutorials around to learn how to sculpt.

Thanks for the compliment
