View Full Version : Mental Ray Translation Attributes Resetting

Hey guys,

I've just discovered this really crappy bug after installing maya 8.5 sp1.

I go to the select by name tab and type in miDefault* to bring up the miDefaultOptions attributes in the attribute editor.

I select the mentalRayGlobals tab and open the Rendering Tab and Translation Tab

I select Progress Messages as the verbosity for both the Rendering Tab and Translation Tab.

Now I hit the render button.

In my mental Ray output window. only Warning Messages appear.

And true enough, after the render completes or i abort it, when I look at the tab in the attribute editor, the Rendering Tab's verbosity is at Warning Messages.

In fact, it doesn't seem to matter what value I put it, it always resets to warning messages.

Now this seems in line with the big screw up that is the Sampling Values resetting bug and the multipixel filtering resetting bug.

I NEED TO SEE PROGRESS MESSAGES! grrr... sorry for yelling. I'm calm now.

So, anyone able to help me find out how to fix this problem?

Oh yes, my installation is basically default maya 8.5 sp1. I even uninstalled my maya 8.5 before installing the maya 8.5 sp1. There's no new createMentalRayGlobals.mel to fix bugs in my user scripts folder or anything like that.

F6----Render Current Frame---options

There you can set the verbosity level, memory etc.

Thanks man, Slipknot. You've just saved me many hours of frustration. I have no idea why they moved the render translation verbosity options away from the mentalRay RenderGlobals. Whatever was wrong with them being in the Render Settings Window?
