Howdy all,
How exciting, my first challenge! And.. What a GREAT topic! :bounce:

This is my first idea... I named it "What the Hell?" I think the sketch speaks for itself!

I've got a couple others... My mind is racing at a million miles an hour!

I'll post some of my other ideas soon!

In the meantime... Take a good look at my concept tell me what you think!

Hey Carlo,

Welcome to the challenge!
Could you explain a bit more the story behind the sketch? Are those small things with big eyes penguins? And what is their relation to the devil?

Best of luck to you!

Hi Sasha,

Im glad u asked. I was a little hesitant posting the sketch as is, but I did it to see if anyone could get the basic idea of the story. (sadly... I was wrong)

Ok... basically... Its suppose to be a joke.

The Penguins are going about their usual business, until they see an iceberg floating their way with a Snowman on it, but as you can see its no ordinary Snowman (Devil Snowman). So... As they watch it floating towards the mainland, they're basically confused as to how, why, whom did it.

I initially was going to add 2 little penguins giggling on the iceberg directly behind the Snowman, hidden from the penguins on the mainland.

Thats the basic story... Im working on other sketches to better emphasize the concept.

Thanks... hope that gives you a basic insight of concept. :)

Welcome to the challenge, man, and good luck :)

I can dig it. This is a really strange situation. The only thing is, does it really highlight strange behavior?

Hi Carlo,

I like your sense of humor  I did like all those penguins hitting the devil…but as funny as it is not strange as much for the behavior since maybe it’s not clear.,if they know it’s de Devil, or because we think the nature of the penguins its to be playful…maybe you can experiment with the idea of the devil laying, and warming the eggs for the penguins mean time the dads are laughing at him or something a bit more strange….but I like your start, and you can play a lot of things with it! Have fun….and good color sketch!

Howdy all,

Thanks for taking a look, and the feedback!

AxelAlonso... Yeah, it does give me an opportunity to experiment with the idea, I do have some other concepts for the which will be coming soon.

I did like all those penguins hitting the devil...
I do have another idea where the penguins are wearing party hats, and blindfolded, hitting the Snowman with sticks (like a Pinata)... with icecubes falling out of the snowman.

More concepts to come! :bounce:

Another concept... I thought of this idea while i was sketching the pinata idea!

Anyway... This concept explains itself pretty much... I hope!

In my opinion... Its a pretty simple concept but a BOLD one at that.

I was thinking about the overall composition of the shot to maximise the effectiveness of the idea, and this is what I came up with.

ALL feedback welcome... including maybe some composition tips?

Thanx all... hope you enjoyed this one.

More concepts to come soon!

Great!
this one is beautiful.... i'd keep it.

You know' i think he has way too much of chilly willy, maybe is a little distracting since you stop to think if he is or not beacause you can't see his face.
You could make him even smaller or give him the fuzzy feathers of baby penguins an change his gear a bit: as i see it, the cuter the penguin the funnier it is gonna be.

You're in the way to achieve the best christmas card ever!

Thanx Gabriel,

Yer... haha... I did still Chilly Willy's hat for the concept. I couldnt resist, it looked cute.

Bahh... they dont make cartoons anymore like they use to!

I'll definately keep this concept for the "possible" final... will rework it a little!

Thanx for the advice. :)

Fore concepts to follow shortly!

Thats a nice idea very funny. It captures the simple thinking of a child who wants to comfort the cold snowman The background is very bright now and the snowman is a bit dark compared to the background. Maybe you could make the background a bit darker and the snowman more bright so attract more attention to your subject. I hope my 2 cents of advice were usefull;) Good luck!

Howdy all,

Thankyou for all your comments. :)

I've been flat out working on paid projects and havent had the time to get back into working on the challenge.

At this stage I'm probably (more than likely) not going to get anything up to show as a final piece, which is dissapointing being my first challenge and all.

However I am working on exciting projects... One of which happens to be an Illustration for a book cover which is going to be published! How exciting... YAY! :bounce:

Anyway... that's all for now... Have fun now!
