View Full Version : enviroment : house
diziple 03-22-2003, 07:59 PM Hey people..
This is a scene i've been workin on for some days now.. my plan is an animation where u walk trough the entire house and look at a fully furnitured(?) house.
One question: do anyone here render animations with brazil? i rendered an animation of this house that lasted 1000 frames. It took 24 hours to complete on a amd xp2000. I dont want to think about how long that would take with brazil.
Feedback are most welcome.

I love the cars! good taste! But the roof looks very odd for some reason I'm geussing because of the bright red color with no detail. Try to drop some more detail in the whole scene for a better feel to the environment.:bounce:

it looks really solid and proportional but the grass is way flat and it seems there should be something else along the horizon, to the right of the house maybe. i would love to see more shots of the inside.

Hi
I've rendered with Brazil... and... DO NOT USE IT for that animation. I could take the rest of your life. Brazil is really good, but too really ssssssslllllllllllloooooooooooowwwwwwww. You can optimize the parameters, but you'll neves get a good speed of render.
I suggest you the VRay. Is the fastest GI render engine. You can optimize it and get 1 or 2 min/frame, but with Brazil... forget it.
In VRay you can optimize the speed changing the next in the RENDER SCENE SETUP
* In IMAGE SAMPLER (ANTIALIASING)
- Activate the ADAPTIVE SUBDIVISION
- Min rate: -1
- Max rate: 1
- Select RAND
* In INDIRECT ILLUMINATION (GI)
- Activate it
- Min rate: -1
- Max rate: -1
- HSph. subdivs: 9
- Interp. samples: 13
* In SYSTEM
- Render region division: 128 x 128
Try this and you'll can see the power of VRay

I would simply suggest not to use Brazil in the animation, learn to use lights first! In this shot, you seem to use raytrace shadows, which have two problems: first the edges of raytrace shadows are way too hard, it leaves you with no ambiance at all; second raytrace shadows take ten times longer then shadow maps to render.
If you are experienced in lighting scenes, you do not need Brazil to make awesome animations: the rendering time is just too long for the little better it gets.

The texture on the grass is way too big (I recognise the grass that comes with Max). Also, if you gives the window sills a bit more depth, the windows wont look so flat.
Just a thought.
