The first rule is, you don't talk about cgfightclub...
We have an unnoficial CGTALK fightclub on IRC now (read modelling against the clock competition). It starts usually around 6 AM GMT (that's 10 PM PST for us in Cali, 7 AM for western Europe), though of course you can go there whenever you want and if there are enough people then of course you can start up a challenge.
To join in:
if you have never used irc before:
1) www.mircx.com <- get this client
2) set up your user preferences
3) in the status window, type /server irc.freenode.net
4) in the status window, type /join #cgfightclub
5) say hello!
Here's how it works:
The Challenge
A topic is given by someone not participating, that person will also count time, the challenge lasts 15 minutes, with 4 minutes at the end to render and post the image up on the internet.
Voting:
Each person who participates votes, you cannot vote for yourself.
The winner is then decided based on the number of votes
See the past winners here (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=51374)
I hope to see all of you C4D'ers there, as it's great fun no matter what level of modelling skills you think have, and it's a great way to learn the app and improve your modelling ability very fast.
