Hey everybody, I couldn't resist at least attempting this topic. Unfortunately this challenge could not have come at a worse time for me as my wedding was one week ago, and between that and work, free times been alittle thin. But these challenges always offer great crituqes and advise, and even if I don't finish it, it's not gonna hurt to have alittle observed practice. I'm gonna model the jedi starfighter from EpisodeIII, just like the design of them. I'll be using reference from the Art of Star Wars, as well as about 100 pics i snapshot from the dvd. Right now I'm basically blocking out the main shapes as well as major details for the pod. The center pod proved to be alittle more difficult than i thought would be, as keeping the smoothness of the "eggshape" while creating the window shapes was alittle of a pain. I'm using maya, polys to subd's, and as always, critques wanted and welcome....except on spelling ;) http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x300/justinmcfarlane/wip1screen.jpghttp://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x300/justinmcfarlane/wip2screen.jpghttp://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x300/justinmcfarlane/wip3screen.jpg

Mate, it's looking great, but seriously...you got married ONE week ago! Forget computers, Star Wars, polygons, vertex points, shaders and all that crap and buy her some flowers, go out on a nightime picnic, watch a movie, drink red wine and giggle till sunrise, paint her a portrait, take her to the theater, ANYTHING but this! :)

LOL @ Boone!

But seriously, for his new wife to let him even touch a computer now, he married a pretty great person!

Best wishes Arly!

Hey all,
Just wanted to update that I will be moving this to a WIP Section, as I missed the deadline (rats!) and would love it if I could still get some of you to respond with the great feedback everyone's been given on these projects. Here's some of the progress so far, currently working on the interior details, and still have some more surface detailing to do on the outside. Then it's on to cleaning up the typology and making sure it still looks good when converted to sub-d's. I also plan on texturing it and possibly modeling a little anikian or obi-wan for the cockpit.

Also just wanted to say good job everyone, the projects all turned out spectacular. Mannymation your organic modeling skills make me drool, and as for you Yav-looks like you didn't need that reference after all, great job!!
