This is great..my only comments would be that one the second film, the guy in the flying wheelchair makes noise like he goes a 1000 miles per hour.
It sounds like an airplane or something.
But overall....VERY COOL!!!
Very cool.
I'm guessing that there are a lot of still plates for background in the first one? I believe there would have too be a lot of thrust created to lift that wheelchair so the sound kinda made sense for me. I couldn't quite figure out what was going on though? but the music was pumping me up. One thing to make it cooler would maybe be if the guy leaned into the corners more, he seemed very stiff.
-EAP!
I can't download the 3rd movie. :hmm:

I can't download the second and the third movie :annoyed:
It's nice but i don't like the compositing with reel shots (ambient color of the ship is a little weird compared to the environnement, but the shadow "effect" on the ground and buildings/house is nice)
I like the design and the modeling too :)

whoah..... i saw this at front page just now and immediately recognize the work. It's Wau2020 of Tan Jin Ho! He won the grand prize of a local New Media Award with this entry (which i took part as well but dang i only won consolation)........ actually, participants were supposed to create a spacecraft that shows Malaysian's identity.
anyway, Jin Ho if u r reading this, remember we sat next to each other during the prize presentation at the One Academy? And u stepped on my foot too! Congrats anyway, hows the trip to hawaii?

When can we see more!
well...
I think the Animations are not bad.
But...no offense....I don't like the overall design very much.
I'm veeery critical when it comes to Spaceship design.
(I've dumped lots of Space-Sim Games no matter how good they were, just because the ship-design was not good)
e.g. a very good and plausible spacecraft-design comes with the Game 'Homeworld' (some of you might remember ;) )
Or some designs of the new 'Enterprise' series. The people there have somehow evolved from the really crappy cardassian ship designs (god...those looked baaaad)
The engines are looking good on this one, but technically their position doesn't make sense. I mean the engine blast hits the crafts stern...what else can i say than: boooommm it goes
he is working for the regional distributor for Newtek, Click Grafix.

wau2020_anim does nothing for me, expect maybe making me feel somewhat bored. Weird how people see the same things so differently I guess :)
Oh and I can't see the other two movies either for what it's worth, some file-not-found ish error.

Perhaps I've missed something over the past few years, but back in "the day", a spaceship, regardless of quality, rendering effects, TD, etc. are thrown out within the first 20 seconds. I mean what's next? A resurgences of giant Japanese robots? 6000 millennium Falcon models?
Please understand me, I do not want to diminish the time, effort, or thought that went into this. From a TD perspective this has one value, from the perspective of something that warrants front page on a forum that gets this traffic, well...
What qualifies a someone you would hire? Realistically, that's what matters to 90% of the people here.
I'm not trying to be a troll here. I've been involved in 3DCG since 1986. I've seen the waves of kiddies with warez version of 3d Studio make something of themselves because of drive and talent make $80K and I've seen people that read a FAQ and manual and could produce passable backgrounds make $120K because they could BS.
To be honest, 2/3 of what I've seen here as front page gallery stuff would not make it into the final cut of companies that I know.
This piece obvisly took _A LOT_ of effort and time. But does that make it worthy? How do you gauge effort vs. art in something like 3D? To be honest from a traditional art perspective, VERY LITTLE of what I've seen on places like Rendersoty, CGTAlk, etc. warrants being called ":ART".
Everything that I see is technical merit over vision, art, composition, etc.
Over the past three/five years I have seen less than "_10_" examples of something that would stand the test of _time_ as artistic representations of a period of time when humans they have SUCH a ménage of tools at there disposal.
No one gave a crap what version of BLUe V5 that Gough used... No one cared what brand of chisel that Michelangelo used on David. It was the ART that mattered. Composition, Vision, Proportion.
I don't mean to be a kill joy, and I don't want to diminish the amount of EFFORT that went into this, but it seems to me that now a-days that it takes much more than pure technical ability to be able to separate yourself from the 1,000,000's of kidz out there with warez versions of studio etc.
Once upon a day people with artistic ability learned the tools to produce work (Wavefront, Softimage, etc.), not it's people with cheap tools in search of voice or vision.
Are there more than 10 people out there that have artistic vision and ability that don't have to be part of a Clique to make themselves known? where are the digital galleries???
How many artistic calls have you seen that say "NO DIGITAL ENTRIES"? WHY?????!!!!!

Monkeyfarm, How many Van Gogh's were there?
One.
So why is it that you expect that everything you see at CGtalk, Renderosity, etc. should be the same caliber and quality of Van Gogh?
Maybe Tajino will be the next great artist respected by snooty Art Critics everywhere but now he's just an artist that is developing his skills as most artists here or at other forums such as this.
This is a place of learning, sharing, and friendship. Not a museum of art. This is not the Academy Awards. They aren't handing out Emmy's here. I think you're in the wrong place.

I've seen Tajino do stuff that is really amazing and briefly met him once at a show held here. It was him that inspired me to go to Lightwave.
Monkeyfarm, dude, you really must live in a strange world. So what, if there are a lot of people modeling star trek models (i am guilty of it too). If you seen the work he has done (especially the Malaysian Friday) I would call those a work of art!!! Damn, you are in need of a stiff drink or a woman! :hmm:

Click Grafix has never sold one pirated copy of any any software. In fact we are one of the few companies in Malaysia that spend money advertising the selling of original software in a region that is rampant with with software piracy. Will it make sense to advertising in the national paper to advertise Lightwave for US1600 when there are no less than 100 shops sell it for US2?
Our record with NewTek and our partners speaks for itself.
Just to make you jealous, we sometimes go out of our own way to buy plug-ins just to support the delevelpers even though we do not use them. In addition, since Jin Ho is a well known LW animator, many of the plugin developers customise their plugins according to his requests, something that benefits other LW animators.
