The Dumb Dragon Girl

A dragon girl born to a billionaire, though a mutant was a dumb one.Her father built a huge palace far far away from people to keep her away from embarrassments. He gave her all the possible luxuries he could right from lifestyle to movies, sports, anything.Anything she would wish, was granted by her father like a genie. She would ask for helipads to be built or get strange animals to play with or built huge statues of her favorite celebrities.Everyday she would wake up with her new innovative brilliant-dumb ideas.Once she was very fascinated by the sport golf. Her wish to make a golf course around the palace was undoubtedly fulfilled. The golf ground was so vast that her bodyguard who carried her golf bats had to travel by helicopter. She enjoyed to hit the ball hard and far so that she could use her dragon wings to to fly long distance.A strange story to hear and a funny one to watch.I have tried to visualize this concept in this rough color sketch and would work on it to make a 3d Illustration.

I like the story behind the illustration, I am still not sure if you can see all that yet, I like here careless expression but why not go a little bit more snobby, or goofy since dragons always represent power, play a bit more with a contrast of that.

Very nice sketch though. Keep the fun coming!

Wow, that's a very full concept. I really like the character and her environment, but there are two things I would suggest. Firstly, I would suggest finding a more active pose for her; in the midst of this bizarre mountaintop golf course with her caddy swirling around in a helicopter overhead, she's just kind of standing there in the middle of the picture frame. I'll agree that this works for the character of a bored heiress, but seeing as this challenge is about strange behavior, the behavior needs to be at the forefront. Maybe you could have her swooping down hawklike from above, with the club swung back at the ready to whack the ball. Maybe she could be trying to hit it in midair. Maybe she just hit the ball, or is in the act of it. Maybe she's just reaching up while the nervewracked caddy clasps the helicopter's landing strut, risking life and limb to hand her a club. She could be yakkin' away on a cell phone. There are a thousand possible actions that could be going on, and any one of them would lend a greater air of dynamism to the piece.

My other suggestion is, consider simplifying the concept where possible. It's not that it's a bad concept; it's really not, but in the final piece every last part of the concept needs to be clear in the image. Some parts, particularly about her dad (including his apparent romance with a dragon) and his shutting her off, would be extremely difficult to convey in one image.

Good luck to ya, man, I'll be watchin' for your updates :)

thanks,

JOPRAJAKTA:

CHRIS BEAVER: thanks for ur valuable suggestions.I understand the importance of dynamism in pose or composition.I am surely going to work on it.As far as depicting the whole story in one image ,its not always possible.Still an interesting final image can get the viewer to think of manny possible perspective.
Any ways thanks for ur constructive comments.I will surely work on it.

Hi Rishikesh,
The character looks funny,:) about the pose I don’t think it matters now, since it is made for the purpose to understand the character in a 3 d space, but maybe,Why not trying to make a study of poses and expression of her so you have a better knowledge of what you want her to do and were is the exact reaction you want her to illustrate. The out fit looks so 60’s, and its good for the golf and for a rich girl, maybe because the blonde hair, the little dress, and the pale pink looks more close to Paris H. But also that could be used to your advantage. About the history behind I think it is difficult to contain a past but I think it’s not impossible to suggest that, having said that, just play around more the expressions of your characters and the place the will take on your composition. props help a lot.

keep the good work!

That's an amazing start. I love your concept sketches - they look superb! I suppose I agree with chrisbeaver's comment about how the strange behavior is currently not obvious in the image but is in the written storyline instead. Although I guess a dragon woman standing there holding a golf club is still a sort of strange behavior. If you showed her about to hit the ball, but instead of the ball it was a large diamond, that would now be very strange behavior indeed and it would also show that she had access to a lot of wealth. But I don't want to push any ideas onto you because you clearly know what you're doing.

One thing I have no doubts about at all is that this looks like being a really excellent illustration.

Hi Rishikesh,
Love the new pose very goofy, and yet snobby, with the look she got, I also like the neck its like a dumb flamingo haha...and the jewel as a golf ball excellent idea, sells better the idea, I see you are trying to put the pet on her neck I like that, like in one of those "L.V" back packs, well hope to see what else you got planned...great work!

Hi ! great pose, all follow a good dynamic curve.
The wings can be in other place to win more dynamism, imo. I think they are well placed, but if you want to devellop more the movement, I would advice to not make them cross the "golf stick club" ( even in background ) they add "counter lines" or "cross" in the composition that breaks the mouvement.
But this is optionnal ! Great works !

Man! Is hard to find something wrong with her.... she's so cute!

Still something came up to my mind, your early sketches of her showed bigger, mmmh... less humanlike legs, the feet showed even more of her dragon heritage (I liked the big bold toes and claws of the very first one) and her thighs were stronger, I think . But I understand if you're taking another direction now to make her look more feminine. Actually, I just wanted to let you know I still like your first concept image a lot!

Nice concept. I like your last drawing it's really good. I see you're going 3D with it, I hope you can bring thru your unique drawing style as well.

You could add some little pebbles and dust to that ledge beneath her foot to kinda emphasize that she jumped from there into the air to hit the ball. You could also add maybe a numbered flag to that island under the helecopter to kinda show that's its an actual golf course she's playing on and that's she just not out there hitting stuff around.
