i been sketching people in train and buses for 3 years and i think it's sometimes hard when people alighted and new people board the train/buses. I usually just try to focus on what i want to capture, usually just the lineswork , instead of shading as Singapore is a small place and people gets off the train on the average of 15 to 20 mins. I guess there's no hard and fast rule to sketch "plein air" ,just more of what you want to capture, the light falling on the person face, the gestures, or simply a mood at that moment.
