Hi ghi,

We can now move a RIFF File from the folder where it was saved from Painter into another folder and when we highlight that file in the new folder, a thumbnail appears in the upper right corner of the Open dialog.

That is, in WinXP Home SP2 which is what I'm using. I believe it works the same on Mac and in other OS versions, but you'll have to ask around to be sure.

hi Jin

i was mostly wondering if Painter X files have better previews in folders. current P 9.5 .rif files still have the tiny previews. since both Vista and Mac Os now support enhanced icon sizes and better file previewing i don't understand why Corel is so far behind in this area. is there something inherent in a RIFF that disallows this? right now i have to either save as a .tif or a .psd along with the .rif just so that i can see an effective preview of works via Bridge. it'll be ironic if Painter RIFFs won't be able to fully participate in Leopard's Coverflow feature.

Hi,

I believe on Mac's, there's a utility that allows viewing RIFF files in a folder but I'm not a Mac user and don't know more than that.

In Windows, the only thumbnails for RIFF files are seen in the Open dialog.

You'll have to ask Corel about it to get the answer as to why not now and when, if ever, RIFF files will have file folder thumbnails. We all want them and have let Corel know for a long time.
