Howdy everybody.

I've been working on some spaceship models recently, and I have two types of ships that are pretty far along.
They're supposed to have been made by 2 significantly different species.

I was just hoping for some advice on one or two things:

- Coloring/texturing ideas for the aquatic one.

- Rounding the windshield for the terran one (I can't figure out an easy way to do that with AM).

Plus whatever other comments you guys may have.

BTW: I'm using AM v9.5... and it crashes a lot. Other than that, I don't mind it at all.

here they are:

Cool work I really like it-excellent. As far as texture for the aquatic ship-what about the ship that JarJar uses in Star Wars? Blue hue/tint. Maybe a few dings and water damage. Dvgarage has a water toolkit that looks real nice. The bottom simply rocks! Design is great!!! As far as rounding did you try using a sphere and attaching it to the front? What are you going to use these for? Website? Give v10 a shot-much better than v9X. Great stuff.

The jarjar ship as inspiration for the texture for the aquatic ship might be pretty cool...

I'll have to check out DVgarage and see what the water toolkit looks like... as soon as I get back to my dsl connection.

The models are just for fun at present, but I was hoping to use them (and others) in a short animation, movie trailer type - maybe a minute long - showing 2 species fighting for world domination.

The back-story would be something like: They've co-existed on the same planet for centuries... peacefully, but separately. The Terrans encroach on the Aquatics' territory in some way and *boom* peaceful co-existence is no longer possible. From the get-go, it will seem that the aquatics' tech is far superior to the Terrans'... that's about all I've got.

No website dedicated to it yet, but once this starts rolling, that may be a good idea. And I'll look into getting v10 if 9.5 gives me any more trouble.

Thanks for your input!

Aquatic Fighter update:

Koon: Coloring changed

And - at the behest of my roommate - the general shape was tweaked.

Any good ideas for bump mapping?

Id love to see it rendered in a chor. What are you doing with them? Try 10 - stabler than 9! :> I really really like the terran scout. Where did you get the inspiration from? Who said you cant do mech models in AM! Nice work. i do like the colors - like I imagined them! :>

I'll have to make a choreography for you then...

Once I get the terran scout textured, I'll get them both in a short - though I do plan on having a terran fighter as well!

As far as the scout's design, I'm not really sure where the inspiration came from. It's kind of a vertical take-off and landing orb.

The terran fighter will be much sleeker, but still pretty mecha. No plans yet for an aquatic scout, though I do have a mothership planned for the aquatics.

Thanks for your post!

Some new pics, including wip mothership, and a rendered version of the fighter for those of you interested.

Still looking for modelling and texturing ideas on the terran scout.

Thanks,
