thats cool, Im doing a western animation, and I searched around to try to do some rope, and it seemed overly complex.
that looks great. Will be cool for many uses.

Cool. This beets my morph targets and bone setup I was using in my current project.

WOO HOO! looks like it'll will do the job!

Well, I've tried it and it didn't work for me.
I think my problem is with the weight map.
- Do you create one wieght map for the entire object, or one weight map that fits the bone you create in modeler?

I don't know why it isn't working.
You don't have to use a weight map, if you don't check the check box on the left it won't take it into concideration.
But if you use a weight map, it is supposed to be the rope, cord... part only.

I must be missing something here, because I really don't see what's so special about this plugin. Sorry, I don't mean to sound like a jerk...but it doesn't seem like it does anything more than set up a bunch of bones with IK on them, and add a goal null at the end, which would take maybe a minute or two longer to do without this plugin?
I ran it on a simple object, and the results were ok....for basic bends it works fine, but it gets pretty flippy in spots and there's no control for having multiple bends in different directions.
I dunno...it's cool, I guess, but like I said...nothing that can't be done w/o this plug.

Don't get me wrong...it's cool that the plugin is free, and I'm glad that there are people who develop tools like this and release them for free (hell, I've got all I can do to write a simple expression, forget about scripting...so it's not like I could do any better)...I was just wondering if there was something I was missing since everyone seemed really jazzed about it.

Yes I guess your right, its nothing that can't be done already but most scripts arn't made to do things that can't be done, they are made to do things that can be done, faster.

It doesn't do any thing you can't do, after all it is an LScript and LScripts can't do any thing you can't.
It can be a real time saver though.
I can create all the bones in the right direction and size, and set up an IK chain within 20 seconds or less.
I found myself making these kinds of rigs more and more often so I thought it would be cool to make my own plugin for it and I hope others can get the best out of it too.

I just added a video example of the use of the RopeRig plugin.
It can be found at the top of this page:
or click here for a direct link:
I also add a tip at the bottom of the page that explains how to make a rope rig with multiple controler nulls.

I think those tips that you sent about getting multiple controlelrs belongs on that page, too! Then the thing really shows its power. Thanks!

Thanks for sharing that!
I've always wanted to animate a weiner dog ("It's my t'ing.") and this could make it sooo easy!
