dandavis 03-21-2003, 08:15 PM Hey folks, would like to get some feedback on these bugs that I've modeled. I can't get the file size down to an acceptable level to post here so I'm going to put the link to where I have it posted at renderosity instead:

You can post your comments here or at Renderosity, either way, I'd appreciate some feedback. Thanks!

nice picture, but i agree with thirdeye about the light.
i think, it's not a question of being not bright enough. i think, the light is placed too low. considering that ants are only a few milimeters tall, their shadows should be much shorter as the sun is way above them. also i would try to increace the shadow-map or even try hard or area-shadows.

Thanks again. this is EXACTLY the kind of feedback I'm looking for. I can't believe over 100 views and 2 comments. Oh well, I just wanted to let you know that I really appreciate it. -- dano
Very nice :) except... a drop of water? It looks strange, like liquid metal.

Hey seed, I'm not sure what you're talking about, the blue bottlecap???? It is supposed to be metal under chipped paint. I guess it doesn't look like that, huh?? Thanks for the tip! -- dano
OK :) Now I can see it :) I was thinking it's a drop of water with too big reflections :)

Hey seed, I do appreciate the feedback though. It tells me that the modeling isn't so good there. It's really hard to look at things with an objective eye when they are models that you've done yourself. I look at it and see a bottle cap but that doesn't necessarily mean that everyone sees it immediately. Thanks again!!!!!
Yah, I have to agree with seed. Old bottlecaps usually have a dull sheen to them, maybe a little rust. And I'm just a beginner here, but the ants don't seem very connected to the ground? They almost look like they're skating over the sand. Not sure how you'd change it though?? The environment looks great though! I'd like to see where they're going so fast!

Thanks Iggy! I'll probably start making all these changes sometime soon. Can't wait to see how it all turns out. Excellent suggestion BTW! Thanks again!! -- dano
