View Full Version : is it just me or does FlashEx suck?
sputnikinspace 03-21-2003, 07:47 PM tried playing around in FlashEx and it struck me how lousy it was...maybe it's just me that can finetune it enough, but the quality just suck majorly!!
I know it's supposed to be vectorgraphics and swf and all but anyway...
As it is now its easier to render in cartoon and take the pic over to flash and trace it - much better results but quite tedious if you are doing an animation.
Does anyone know of any other flash Export for cinema thats better?

dunno about plugins but swift 3d is worth looking at, its standalone but can import 3ds files, the animation tools aren't to bad either, theres some pretty cool demos on their site

flashex is a sorry excuse for swf export - one of the MAJOR remaining shortcomings of C4D.
It can be painstakingly tweaked to improve results a little, but over all it is really bad.
Also, there are no other options for C4D swf export (well, there is one, I can't remember the name, but it is much worse than flashex).
I think the problem is that flashex is just an included plugin developed by one guy (not developed in house by maxon). So until they take it more seriously and throw some R&D at it, I think we are screwed.

thanks for the input guys - swift seems like a nice program to do flash renders. īCan it handle whole animations from cinema, import models etc.
Will check it out!

sadly, swift is a nice app, but the only way to use it with C4D is export objects as .3ds files, and then light, texture and animate in swift.
no animation, no textures (other than color), no lighting, etc., will move from C4D to Swift, nothing

This is probly not what your looking for,but any way,I have Swift standalone v3,it is so-so.I also have Wildform Flix Pro,it is used to convert video files to flash files, and I use it more than I use Swift.I just render to avi or quicktime, import it in Flix, and voila!!!No need to play with the lights etc.etc like one needs to in Swift.
If I was not so eager to jump on the Swift train and took my time looking around before I bought , I would have only bought Flix and left Swift alone.:D
See ya...

Before I forget.
Swift does have a couple of things going for it,with the Flash MX importer,it split your animation up in layers when you import it in to MX,easier to tweak then,or so they say,I only have Flash 5.
Output is quite nifty as well....
