Rendered in Blender, that now supports blinn materials:

Spaceships modeled in Wings3d and then imported in Blender.

Spaceships, always a good 3d art subject. Great work env. Hey let the other BlenderHeads that hang arround here know what's up.

Post a link to this thread in the Blender Forum on cgtalk.

Just a few hints-
- you lighting is too even for a space scene. You have to take into account the other elements in you scene. Your planet background luminance should effect your spaceships. Add simulated lighting, colored spot lights that represent the objects that are emitting light.

A very good Space scene reference-

Thanks for replay. Yes, you are right and I will add reflected lights from the background.:)
BTW, what is that "Farscape"? It looks really interesting.

Good work with the planets, the spaceships are simple but arenīt bad, good atmosphere in render.
Good work

also remember that light in space is either totally dark or totally light....you dont get shading because there is no atmosphere.

Hi

The scene is OK, but I think that the bottom part would must have a tenuous red-pink light reflected from the red planet.

The rest is correct. Could be a little simple scene, but correct.

Go on that way

That is true, but is a realistic way to do a space scene... if you watch at space scenes like the Star WarS's or the Star Trek's, you see that the light has an earthly diffusion; this is due to the fact that when they used real models the light bounced all around, producing this unrealistic effect. BTW, also now that space scenes are made by CG, this look has been kept in films.
It is a"choice". :)

Yes, you are right; actually, there is a reddish reflection on the bottom of the spaceships, but I think it is too weak to be visible... I will raise it.

Thanks for comment.

Farscape is a Jim Henson Comapny production. You remeber the original Yoda, Jabba and other characters from the "Real" StarWars films? That was all Jim Henson's Company. I almost overlooked Farscape on the SciFi Channel. It's an unsual Tv Space series with some zany plots and noooooooooooo fixed destination or mission other than to stay alive and get loot. It's more of an adventure than any other tv space series.-

It rocks, check it out. Isn't Farscape going off the air?

I understand, it seems interesting... but I live in Italy, and here we have not yet a SciFi Channel (damn!...). Never heard of Farscape till now, but hope to watch it here very soon.

I like the Blender Phong render better.

I think you should change the star background with a better one with nicer stars and nebulas...

And contrast more the spaceships (like someone already said :wavey: )

Edit : yep me too i prefer the Phong render :)
