Fellows,
Does anyone have a custom brush that will give a nice thick/thin line for inking? I've tried and tried and everything I've found has the same blunt ends. Please, please help. Thanks!

The liquid inks tend to have blunt ends as they simulate the pooling of real ink. Have you tried the scratchboard tool?

Try these, they work really well in my opinion and are the best I've tried in any program.

Marco,

Looking at your examples, I'm encouraged as this is the quality of line work I'm looking for. Thanks again I can't wait to give it a go.

Bummer. The brushes don't seem to work. I'm using Painter IX which could be the problem. Looking at the files they look like Final Cut Pro files not regular Painter files.

Corel broke the brush compatibility between versions, so now you can't load Painter X brushes on Painter IX.5 I found this out when I tried loading the brushes at our studio which only has Painter IX installed, but that brush pack also has a version for Painter 6, IX.5 and X so if you update Painter IX to IX.5 you should be able to load them.

Ah, I suspected as much. Thanks.

Hi,

In WinXP Home SP2, I was able to load the brush library named Figue PIX.5 Brushes into Painter IX.5, by doing the following:

I changed the name of the brush library to remove the period and make it:

Figue PIX5 Brushes

Try using that brush library and do what I did. It should work (I think) since Painter IX.5 is only an Update/patch, not a new Painter version.

If that doesn't work, use the Painter 6 .BRS brush library file and:

Go to the Brush Selector menu, choose Import Brush Library, locate the .BRS file, and click the Open button.

Good luck!

Thanks Jin, I work on a Mac. I'm considering just upgrading to X if I see it's worthwhile. I really just want a brush that has that "bounce", "life" and "action" I'm looking for. The scratchboard ink pen is the closest I've found so far.
