Texture changes

Hi I want to know is there is way to animate the texture like say.... a character writing on paper or a car leaving its tyre marks on a road.???

Frequently the way that's done is to create a blank piece of paper, then a piece of paper with the writing on it. Then to use a compositing package to animate masks to reveal the text as it's been written on. Then you write that animation out as an animated texture, then import the texture into your 3d app, and render along with the animation of the pen.
