This question is directed mainly to people working in the industry (Lighters, Lighting TDs, and folks with other such titles).
Musicians (classical musicians at least) can usually say who they studied with and who their most influential mentors have been. I don't really know, but I assume the same may be true for fine arts painters. For CG lighters, I suppose it's different since there isn't the same kind of one-on-one study that musicians have.
But I would be curious to know who it is that working lighting professionals consider their mentors, and if possible, what specific impact that mentor had (maybe ways of seeing, techniques of lighting, attention to color, working efficiently, or other things).
I know it's a little unusual, but I thought people interested in lighting might find it interesting and um... illuminating.
Thanks very much to all who consider responding and especially to those who are able to.
