Hi,

here is my walk cycle I would like to use for my showreel. I would appreciate if you could give me critique so I can polish things up.

thanks

p.s. the rig doesn't have toe bend so I couldn't do the floppy toes http://www.strutyourreel.com/forum/images/smiles/icon_smilie.gif

Hey Gloor,
Not a bad start. The thing that's most obvious to me is that he's completely vertical and rigid the whole time. The ankles are rigid--he walks flat-footed, he needs to bend his ankles more. Particularly on the pass position. There's a lot more that ought to be corrected than what I've mentioned, but those are the biggies for me. Basically, you need to get your poses down.

To help with the poses (and walks and animation in general) I highly highly recommend picking up Richard William's "The Animator's Survival Kit". If you're looking to be an animator, it's imperative that you do pick it up and try out some of his walks he breaks down there (and be sure to experiment with your own, too). It sounds kind of cliche, but you can't afford not to if this is the career you want for yourself. If I taught a beginner's class in animation, I'd absolutely use it as a textbook.

Good luck,
Chris

thank you very much. I followed digital tutors dvd but found that its not that thorough. I'll try to fix it and will come back later.
