This is the rough layout for the image.
I always like cowboys in odd places... Westworld and The Dark Tower. Could be fun!

Was thinking of doing a unicorn Cowboy/Cowgirl, traditional Cowboy/Girl garb, think of all the odd creatures you could round up...
Lets go russle up some Dragons...
Good luck and Keep it Odd!

That was quick Darksuit!
I tried posting this a couple minutes ago... and I've never entered a challenge here before so I'm not sure if this is how updates are done...
Hope these are keeping it odd, here are my ideas for the mount. The first is more snake like and the second more worm like. Hmmmmm...

Here are my cowboy and calf with sow designs.
I'm a goober... I now know where the uploader is... I'll use it for the rest of the images. Thanks!

it's a wormboy? XD
06-27-2007, 04:51 AM
Thinking about lighting... I'm at an impasse as to trying out a digital sketch and paint or doing this in 3d. Hmmmm...
Thanks Darksuit... I'm going to try and contact the admin and see if I can get the images I already posted straightened out.
Wormboy sounds so much less... mystical. :)

This is pretty much my rough design for my cowboy... er wormboy.
I'll get a rough topology together in Max, and then off to ZBrush. Fun stuff!

Just a quick rough of the face. I'll flush it out in ZBrush after the whole thing's been caged.

I've been doing a lot of thinking on this piece, and the cowboy's mount needs legs.
I'm still back and forth on how much animation I'll do, but I'd like a pretty functional rig for the mount and the cowboy.

Here's the mount getting roughed in, and scale setup.

Here's the mount's rig so far. I was having trouble getting Spline IK to play nicely (I'm using 3dsmax on this). I ended up using what I usually do for muscles for the spine and it seems like it might work well for this creature, and the cattle. They're not moving in that definitive snake slither, so that really helps the rigging out.

You're already building rigs? Man, you're really powering through this. It's looking good; I look forward to seeing how you handle the worms' armoring.

I've got an idea about the armor... I don't know if it'll work, though. Nice thing about these challenges is that I'm doing it a little backwards from how I usually work. I usually have so many tight deadlines that I try and not get myself into trouble... with this one I'm just curious to see how I can get myself out!
