I voted for the Yellow. I think the blue might look better if it were a little less blue looking... more subtle and a little less green looking.

Well I believe all art has a story to it, so based on what the story you are trying to prtray in the picture and the coming events ahead. The color will then be a ton easier to choose. Though I like the feeling of the lighter yellow. I feel the blue will do you more justice if he is leaving his love to go off and fight a darker enemy. If hes leaving to meet up with other soldier to gather before a war, the lighter is better. Im just making asumptions based on what I see. Hope it helps!!!

Yellow seams better. Its has nice warm romantic feeling which it should from what the picture displays rather than a cold feeling. Unless its a good by I am off to war and to die type of picture. :)

It looks like he's kissing her goodbye, so I say the blue for the sorrow at the parting...:)

Hmm - the pictures aren't just mirrored with a colour change are they - they're different pics altogether. At the moment I like the yellow one better because of its warm feel but its also a more finished looking picture. The way he's kissing the top of her head in the yellow picture captures the sorrow of parting better than the blue picture although the way she has her arm posed makes her look more sorrowful in the blue pic than the yellow.

I hope I'm not gravitating toward yellow just because it looks to be a more cleaner picture, but I do prefer the yellow one. As SEL says, its all down to what story you're telling though.

I think the pictures have a very different story: the warm coloured one would tell a story where the rider returns home after many years, the other one a story where he rides to battle.

The left-to right composition remarkably tells just the opposite story. I think that (ok, western oriented) the ordering in a story telling picture is very important, unconsciously we (again, western people) will read from left to right, left being 'first' and right being 'last'.

Putting the girl to the right means that the rider 'came in' from the left, and the action stops at the girl. Putting the girl left means that the rider unconsciously hints at leaving.

Would be interesting to see what happens if you mirrored the pictures, keeping their colors.

Interesting...

And a little less unrealistical, its warmer and you can really notice every detail...

Definitely Blue, the way it is posted above. The stance of the girl just seems way to "I can't believe you are leaving". The yellow is nice and warm but she still looks like she's not wanting him to go. If her arms were around him, then it would look like he was returning.

Her butt looks better in that one

I agree with some of the other guys, a kiss on the head means he's leaving her. If he just got back from a long trip or something, he'd be doing more than just a peck on the head. So, if he's leaving here, BLUE would be the appropriate color.

Hehe, it looks like yellow is the winner--but dammit, I'll get some blue in there even if it kills me.... :D

Thanks for the votes. :)

I agree with you totally! I thought the same thing when I first saw them.

Hmm, I dunno if the east/west, right/left has anything to do with it. For me, it looks like he's leaving facing either way, since his body language shows that he's tense and ready to go. But the blues looks more like he's leaving than the yellow.

I probably will finish this piece after I'm done with another piece, so it'll be a while...

there is a huge difference between them. do you want to them comming to gether and happy (yellow) or parting and sad (blue)

you are having a huge emotinal differeence between them. pick on that basis, its your art

good luck, have fun

Yellow for sure, the blue is too muted, and yellow suits the scene.

I personally like the blue better.
I kinda get the idea that the man is kissing the woman goodbye.
Blue(sort of purple) gives a sad yet romantic feeling.

just do 3d

I think you should use both colours, blue for shadows, yellow for highlights. Using a dominant colour can look cool but It can also take away a lot of depth. It's your work but that's what I would do

yea i had the same thought at the beginning. just a tiny bit of blue for the shadows.
