here is the problem:

i have an rocket ship that is plugged into a wall via a long chord. when the rocket starts to take off i want the plug to stay in the side of it for a few feet. i made the chord using a joint chain with a curve and an ik spline solver. i use the vertices of the curve to animate the chord. i need to constrain the first vertex (or end of chord) to the ship, how do you constrain a vertex to a freakin object. it won't let me do it says i need a transform object.

using maya 4.5:hmm: :hmm:

I'm also having trouble with the chord keeping volume, ie stretching and etc.

Don't animate teh vertices themselves. Instead take each vertex and "Create Cluster" to create a cluster for it. Then animate the clusters, or parent the clusters to control objects and animate those.
