Well, i am really happy to enter this challenge, and the theme is amazing! so much freedom to make all the weird stuff coming from our twisted minds =)
anyways, these are just some sketches of an idea, an alligator who was very uncommon and with a combination of great ideas and bad ideas, anyways.. since they began filming it on the Alligator reality show "in the jungle channel" he has been amazing audiences for a long long time until its plans to take over the world started to work..

i might make some more sketches and then start with the modelling of this little guy.. let´s see what will happen, it will be really fun!

NEAT!!! The acme rocket packs and the ballerina crocodile, not to mention the carrot munching, very Warner-Bothers which is so nostalgic. Great work.

Hello!
hahaha I barely could sleep last night thinking on this project, i am going to have so much fun making it, and i hope you can have some fun watching this thread too!

monsitj:yes man! it was a long long time since we met each other (if i remember well, it was at the deathfall contest right?) i am going to watch your thread very very carefully, you always make awesome stuff!

theblackmage: well, that crocodile is little bit freaky, it must look between scary and dumb, it will be a challenge specially on the morph targets for the face but it will be a nice chance to learn.

lemasterjg: yes, i am taking some inspiration from the coyote and the roadrunner cartoons from WB and some more modern cartoons (but i have to be carefull because in some sketches it looks like a pokémon wich IS NOT the idea haha)

well, i am going to draw a big image for the concept art, (wich i might post in the illustration category) draw the concepts for the croc and eventually start modelling.. i will keep you updated!

good luck!

cool sketches

reminds me a bit of a children poem about a duck which did everything the other way around (and ended up in a cooking pot, where it became a rabbit)

especially I like the one in the egg (although the main actor isn't visible there)
keep it up

Hello!
thanks for your comments, if everything goes as expected i will be making an entire short film with this character, i am a little worried because my character animation skills are a little rusty hehe but is there any other way to keep learning than practice??
anyways, i will give my best effort to get something great =)
Ania: yes, the story is loosely based on that idea, but with a touch of originality, wich i think will make the animation very funny. and the egg idea is only the first hint of how strange is this cocodrile.
jporter313: thanks for your comment, i will have a lot of fun modelling that scene, i hope you like when its finished
Chiko: i want to make an original style for the visuals on this short, tough it will be a challenge to match the colorfull look in cg
ihamind: thanks for your comments!

ok, i have a question.. in english what´s the diference between a crocodile and an aligator?? because i am not sure wich one is this guy hehe
and well, i hope i can make a ot of new friends around here and i truly apprecite all your comments, i will send more updates soon!

good luck

Hey, here is the latest update, i got this guy rigged and i got some basic morph targets in the face done, i will have to start animating this sometime soon.

Hello!
well, i am 90% done with the rigging and the morph targets for this little guy, i just tought it would interesting for you to see (and if you have some suggestions it would be nice hehe) for my setup for the rigging and the controls i made for the facial expressions, wire paramenters are very usefull and now i wont have to go to the modifier thousands of times while animating to make this guy blink hehe

Here are some renders of this guy in different poses, I actually named him "Cunga" -this is actually one of my neighbors nickname and i tought the name fits quite good for this Croc hehe

I am working now on the technical and visual storyboards for the short, the story behind the movie will be that even if you have a "strage behavior" you can make very intense things and make it to the top of the world!
I suppose it will be clearer after i upload the storyboards..

I had quite an easy day at my job today, so i continued with this before i get commercial projects to work one.. and well, Here is the first render for the exterior enviroment, there are some low poly objects and there are still quite a lot of details to add! this render is made with Vray, physical camera and linear workflow, I rendered this in .exr and edit it a little in Fusion 5.. i know i am going around too many variables in the rendering but i like to have a lot of control in the final output. thanks to all for the comments and inspiration, they keep me working =)

Well, here is the next update for the exterior background, since i will be using a lot of compositing to avoid rendering the full frame i can put as much detail as I want so i am going crazy with the polycount in this one, anyways, it wont be too easy but i hope it will work fine.
also i started some time ago roughing up the animation for the first two scenes, you can check the video here:
http://www.digitalphilia.com/strangebehavior/previsualizer.html (http://www.digitalphilia.com/strangebehavior/previsualizer.html)

i still have to clean it quite a lot (since its really hard to me to animate!) but i will give my best shot on this.
that is it for now, any critiques and comments are always welcome!

Here is the first sample of how the format for my short movie, the story will be told as an animated comic book showing diferent sketches of the character doing strange stuff, this thing is proving to be a huge challenge! so many effects, particle stuff, rigging, texturing lighting etc etc that it is almost overwhelming! I might have to cut the full story i wanted to tell because the 2 min animation rule, but those 2 minutes will be very very clean and carefully made.. i know the animation is quite rough for now but i wll keep refining it in the coming weeks, but not until i have at least a rough versions for all the scenes done hehe.

the animation is here:
http://digitalphilia.com/strangebehavior/previsualizer.html

let me know if you have any issue wiewing it =)
and btw, you can see me there, trying to act like a drunk crocodile to get at least a base for the timing (wich is of course still quite off..)
Good Luck with your entries!

----
well, animating characters is not my thing, that shot with the tutu will be just still renders, pasted in a picture album to tell the story hehe

DrFx: thanks for your comment, I think Cunga (the character) looks a little strange on this enviroment because everything is too realistic.. but i will try to change either the character or the enviroment hehe.

Hello!
well, i am going nuts with the speed here haha, too many things to do, this is the intro for the short, in the image below there is a sample of how the animation will look, since i dont have enought time to animate all the scenes, i will be telling the story trough still images, so the camera will be floating around this bamboo frames, and some of the images inside them will be animated, there are in total 16 takes accordingly to my schedule.. so.. let get working and less writing!

there are many many things i would have liked to make with this short, like more animated scenes (or at least with a better quality, animating characters is my pain!!) and some problems here and there.. also the soundtrack is made from free sounds I found on the internet and some of them are very low quality, but well, in the time i had to put it all together and everything the results are ok hehe

really like your re-vamped version w/ the new 3d stuff. really adds to its whimsical (i think i spelled that right) animation. very strange behavior indeed.

hello!
Thanks you very much for your kind comments!
Hiun: haha, you made my day, it makes me really happy that this little crazy crocodile makes someone laugh =), anyways i went trough this contest on short bursts of crazy work, so I wasn´t really able to post all the steps, but sure it was very fun to make haha
r1-381: yeah, the last version looked like a cheap power point presentation.. but making it in 3d was a very interesting practice..

good luck and have fun!
