View Full Version : "WHOOPS!!!" - Hero - Mandrake

hi:buttrock:

um may I ask for little help?

I'm brainstorming here and dont know which to pick:

1- Our hero is perfect in every aspect.. exept one thing: he's grandmaa is
100 year old crone which allways ruins his plans beating him and treatin
him like child.. so ofcourse she enters the scene when he was about to
make a revenge and beat the shit out of him with some stick telling him
to live childrish play and go home :)

2- Our hero is metalic super hero robot, with antena on his head.. which is
great.. exept one thing: he's attracting bolts.. so the storm starts and
lightning bolts are punching him hardly while he jumps like crazy all
over the place

3- Our hero must cross over the ice to catch the bad guy but he's having
problems with that.

4- maybe a classic " I fear from height" will be good for some funny animation?
like: when hero realise where he is standing really, he's paralised by
tremendous fear and just trying to go back over the huge abyss

5- what about play with those sounds given..like hero starts announces
his revenge with lo-tone (ful of confidance).. after he was spanked hardly
he's announcing new try with "normal" tone.. and less confidance...
theng goes "hi" tone.. and he's suprised how he sounds and shamefully
running out.. or somethinl like that..

6- uh this one is hard but i just remembered gollum.. the problem of our hero
is that he has two personalities.. when he says: "now I will.." and go for
revenge the other one (coward) tooks over then first one again and so on..
the bad guy has no job much to do instead looking at foolish hero and
waiting for his decision (which will not come obviosly)..:)

I'm looking for which is better for animation and practicing
here.. not which story is better or so .. but cant decide
:)

Hi Mandrake............:wavey:

Well that is a very nice selection you have given us.looking at it from a animation point of view I personally like two of them the best. #'s 2 and 4 with #3 also having alot of promise...........

But to pick just 1 I would think #4............

I picture that the hero with no other thoughts than rescuing a person in need went out on the dangerous high cliff or broken bridge and once he secured the victim he discovered that he was very "HIGH" up over an abyss.

And now comes the fun,the animation of a very shakey, scared even dizzy hero.Maybe he is sooooooo scared that he has his hands cover his eyes. :)

Well anyway's I look forward to your usual excellent art and creation. It will be fun my friend.

3- Our hero must cross over the ice to catch the bad guy but he's having

i like this one the best
I think it will be very funny watching him slip about on the ice.

Nice and simple but funny story. I don't think there is anything wrong or weird in terms of motion. Really good timing, sense of weight, etc. you have in the animation. I am truly impressed! :scream:

You took a very difficult road with this animation.Slipping on ice with all the characters limbs flying every which way.But you have conquered it.Very well done in all aspects.Plus one more important factor to me......................"FUNNY"...........Very funny.I applaud your efforts, very well done, and FUNNY. :applause:

mandrake  from the animation side this is my fav - great work - where can i see some samples of the animation series u did?

Kirt
05-03-2003, 02:42 AM
Mandrake - Excellent character animation! Good gestures and speedy bursts of movement. The only critique I have for you is that the ending is ...

It would have been funnier and had a bigger impact if (for example) the ice gave way while he was trying to run off. A big drop and splash into the icy water followed by an "ice cube bob on the water" would have given it that final punch.

Still, I gave you a 5 because that bit of sliding on the ice is just excellence! Good job

My favorite entry. No doubt. I hope you win because I certainly think your animation is the best.

I wish I had followed this one from the beginning. Next time I will.
I agree with Kirt about the ending, as he says, a bit... but I think it works anyway. Maybe the poses at the beginning are too exaggerated for that line, but damn... that's what animation is all about.

I can't wait to see what's next.
