Looking pretty sweet, dmonk. I can't wait to see the final composition; there are some excellent possibilities here.

Thanks Guys! The idea is to try to knock as much as I can out of the way while I have a bit of free time left. I want to keep the concept very basic so I can actually finish it up this time. I was think about sitting the fishbowl on top of a bar countertop with the some of the behind the counter visible and a stool or two. First things first though I need to finish the Fish, bottle and glass first. The rest will be cake.

I think a bar setting would be awesome! Perhaps have the dof effect so that behind him while there is the bar/liquor bottles etc etc it is blurred so as to focus on the fish. Also the old joke of drinks like a fish.

Not too sure about the straw though. Seems a bit out of place.

And, NO SLACKING SLACKER! :D

Slacker indeed....I can't make any promises, baby on the way, unco-operative pc and work often make things difficult, but I'll make the effort.

How is the fish gonna get to the booze without the straw?

Definitely a conundrum! I was thinking about the same thing and as much as it doesn't fit I don't see any other way for the fish to be drinking..

I suppose you could always have the "idea" that he was drinking, as in have him puking or something over the side of the fish bowl with the whiskey bottle/glass right next to it.

or perhaps passed out? but that could be mistaken for dead.

The only reason I don't like the straw idea so much is because it is so unmanly to drink booze with a straw :D haha.

But I don't see any alternative.

Anyhow, congrats on the upcoming baby! (maybe you could do another idea, where a woman is having a baby, it comes out and the doctor holds it up saying "congratulations its a *insert weird animal here*!" ) ha. Anyhow ya good luck bro. :)

Refining model. Not going too realistic on this one.

Coming along nicely!

It would be great if he had some giant bags under his eyes to give him the look of a real booze-hound (fish).

Just some proxies for positioning and figuring out how big things need to be. Still figuring out how I'm going to go about the scales since my system can only handle so many polys at a time while sculpting (Frustating as hell). I may just do a simple old school bump for that though.

I was getting crap results from Normal and displacement maps so I just went with a normal bumpmap.

Great idea  , and really nice 3d models. I think you maybe model the front fins like hands to use on the illustration and gain expression for your great fish, only a comment :)
