Hi all!

I'm trying to achieve the same effects as JeremyW:

...without any luck...any pointers anyone??
Have only had success with some omni lights but bothing even close to the example.

Would really like to know how to do this

I remember it had something special to do with having a big sample distance, and applying an alpha (sema) noise to the light... might be a good start for someone...

Okay, for everyone out there this was discussed some time ago on BhodiNut forum. Examples were posted although Jeremy's are rather good!

Simply use the coloriser channel in the transperancy channel of your material (disable all other channels) and place 3D noise in this channel. Put the material on a volumetric light....Bingo! Make sure you have some black in the coloriser between colors or wherever! Play around with the sample distance for various effects and render times!

Thanks for the tip on sample distance. Obvious but I missed it. I could never figure out why lightwaves textured volumetric light were so much faster than cinemas. I guess its not :)
