Hi Remko,

I am glad you returned to the girl peace, I love it! Teddy bear is a nice detail, like it a lot. And agree with other about selecting the B way (your post 231).
With extended deadline I am sure you will finish it! And I am really looking forward for final peace! :)

(If you will have a couple of minutes, can you give me advice how to improve composition in my pic - with two more weeks I can may be change it. Thanks!)

Go,go, Remko! :applause:

Anyway I like the bear idea a lot. It is very ironic.....

aww man. no more bunnies. the new piece has a nice lighting setup, but i like the bunnies idea. but to be honest i think this one is the stronger choice between the two. :)

Hey.After a technical KO started workin on it again a bit more and like we got 2 more weeks thought I take advantage of this by opening the canvas a bit more to take the pic to a maybe more spectacular level.Did a speed on what I would like to do and I'll really appreciate your feeling about this, what do you think?
Cheers friends!

Art2
11-01-2007, 03:28 PM
Hmm.. I don't know.
Feels a bit unbalanced, the blacks are drawing a lot of attention right now. Maybe because they're just empty spaces right now.
Try shifting the canvas to the right (till the left arm of the axe warrior) and crop it a bit at the bottom. You can maybe add more warriors coming from the right.
I really like the shape of that axe warrior btw.

Over all very cool, lighting works, but it is harder now to see the main character due to the added distance. Maybe crop in a bit.

SteevieWoo
11-02-2007, 07:10 AM
Well, Mi first reaction was " hey I can't see her anymore -squint-" but thats an ovious thing to happen (you got us all by surprise with the new canvas), I say go with it! if you find it nice once you lay more detail on the warriors then great! if not , you can always crop it back ... in the other hand...... you have to do something about this: the bear is almost invisible now:shrug:

Hey Remko, your open composition is superb my friend, I really liked. The lighting on the whole scene is awesome. I agree with Gabriel, the little savage cute is a bit far now, but I think the composition gain on tension, and like said Gabriel you can crop back. The warrior on left with the axe looks amaizing! (dont take away that warrior :D ).
Again, awesome work my friend ! Cheers

Hi :-)
Hey thx all of you guys & galls!
MArlon thx man!!!You were totally right!!!Shifted and cropped a bit the way you've said and i really liked it.Feel it much more now.Much more possibilities, and ofcourse a lot more of work again, haha.

Did a speed set up again, not worrieng at all about what it will look like in the final, but just to find the right composition.
So moving around a lot for the moment.

I've flattened all my layers and would like to work this pic out just like a traditional painting, where layers does'nt exists.I do seperate some elements in my alpha channels to still keep some control on them anyway.

While working on it this idea came up to me...
Thought I could maybe hit two flys in one smash.
In fact these barbarians got surprised by this o so cute little girl while washing their (ridiculous) underwear in the little river..C&C mostly welcome!

Hiun
11-02-2007, 02:50 PM
This is definately it Remko!! The underwear idea is completely absurd and ridiculous... I love it!!! Work your magic!! Remember to get some shocked faces and a bit more barbarians in there somehow (suggested in background or somewhere). Maybe some already slain and dead on the ground. Right now the canvas doesn't look like it could house too many bodies, but it seems a bit too scare of barbarians, unless these few separated from the group.:D Great idea about working on a single layer! Given your talents you should enjoy that a lot. Best of luck Remko!!

aaah nice! The composition works nice now!
I saw your previous post and didn't know what to say caus I had a hard time to find out
bothered me but in this new comp every element fits well together!
Love the underwear washing situation! It's hilarious.
Looking forward to your next update!

Hi Remko! It really goes amazing. From the very beginning I was sure about
the lighting that will be great and it is now. Also everything come together
very well and the barbarians washing their underwear is a hilarious idea!
Keep it up! Looking forward to your progress! Cheers!

this is looking really good!! great atmosphere and palette...
the one with the axe could be a bit bigger in the frame to add some depth to the picture and bring a sense of useless threat to it all ( size doesn't bother the girl, it seems:)).
very promessing...can't wait to see it finished.
goos luck.

The underwear washer is of course well done, but politically any correlation with children and underwear could be misinterpreted in an undesirable way (as least by a few). Could he be washing something else related to her, such as a dress?

Art2
11-03-2007, 07:08 PM
Korendo, I think he's washing his own pink underwear.
Remko, make 'em look like these (http://www.otterfashion.com/images/product_images/underwear_large/underwear_large_pink.jpg) and your cool :D

Hi Korendo, indeed the barbarians have been taken by surprise while they were washing their own underwear. Some really ridiculous underwear,loll..

haha it is really interesting to see how your subconscious is working; jumping from the crazy little splatter girlie to giant bunnies and carrot-people over barbarian lingerie and back again^^
I think the barb on the bottom right isn`t related enough to the scene, uess it would be better when he turns his head like in the close up of him
colors look great, I hope to see this finished man ;)

Where is that dam time capsule when you need it? I mean this is basically virtual so where is the replay button? This seems too weird that this incredible art and concept not in? So the gods or some mysterious unseen forces play with us once more. Darn, I knew I should have sacrificed a few more pickle people but the price of plungers being what it is. Well it has really been great to see your work and interact with you, and you have an incredible illustration to show off.

Hey Remko! Don't worry about not finishing this one... next time you will surely do. Actually if this makes you feel better, I honestly think that in your thread I've found some of the most inspirational, crazy and original ideas of the contest. Also I'm quite sure that you've developped more your art just thinking them than finishing them.
Anyways, I hope you'll delight us with your fine art next time.

Good luck my friend and take care of yours, Master.

Hey Remko it was a great shame you didn't finish this one. I became a huge fan of your work in the Eon challenge and this thread only reinforced that some more. I love the boldness and fun and of course the beautiful painting you bring to these challenges - it makes these things so much more enjoyable and inspiring for all of us. So we missed seeing your final this time around but with luck we'll see you next time.

All the best to you buddy
