Hi guys, I Finally post my work
As for the Pirate contest I wait for the last day
I Follow this contest form the beginning, but haven't find so much time to model .. so here his my contribution :)

This Is Meduse , or a kind of...

For those who don't know really much about mythology, she is one of the three gorgones, a female head with snakes as hair, and a lower body as a snake tail

For more precise info, check the net, Im not a good translator french -> english :p

I can assure you this is not a premade model, i got all the backups from the beginning
I even got the initial concept thing writing down a piece of paper

Hope you like it, sorry for this awful rendering, last night was long and I need rest .. maybe some close up this afternoon !

Hey yeah the challenge ends today! But you still have time to enter what you've done anyway:)

I see you live in Annecy- isn't there a really cool animation festival there every year?

Hi all,

Sorry Pistols i won't give you any critics...

Absolutely Leigh ! I live Annecy too and there is a HUGE animation festival every year. I think this is the most famous animation festival. Maybe not the most well-known world wide, but the most prestigious.

It usually lasts 10 days, and all the professionnals are there. There is also a big market, for meeting people, companies. This is a great and exciting moment.

You can of course view the contest in many different categories, and every night, a huge inflating screen freely shows movies such as Bambi, Totoro, Anime, Disney or 3D... with the stars above ...

It is too a gorgeous place, with an incredible landscape

If you want more info about this festival go check http://www.annecy.org

Here is a link (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1155) on a thread I started : here you'll find pics of Annecy.

Here is one pic of the inflating screen :

Hey the annecy film's festival rocks so much
Every years somewhere between may and june, during an entire week, longs, shorts, cartoons, students projects, cg, traditionnal drawing... just go to www.annecy.org :)
(why do I have to explian in english .... rhaaaa ... frustrating !!!!)

Anyway, if u come up here, you won't be disapointed ...

OK you want war !!! Just be ready, because i'm going to be rude at your model.

Were you awaiting critics and comments ? Here you go :D :

- Hands and forearms :
I love those hands and forearms. Sincerely. They look so twisted, like if they were really suffering from degenerative osteoarthritis. I LOVE it. I would just have a comment on the length of the nails. I thought that the nails started at half of the last phallange of the fingers.

- Rendering :
Maybe you should have tried to keep the rendering settings of the hands render to applicate them to the entire model. Putting different colours would help too to understand the topology of the scene. By making the rings around her neck darker, and changing too the colour of the snakes and her "dress".

- Snakes :
I like the way they bend in space.Everyone of them looks so wild ! Maybe adding the same eyes as the character to each snake head would add a bit more depth.

Well I think that's all for now !
Keep going man, you RULEZ !!!

Hey thanks a lot pabbloz !

I have done the chest yesterdaynight ... Fighting with max about UVW mapping. .. I find an intersting way using a spherical environnement...

But dealing with the Hands ... I don't know really where to start ...
I was thinking about completely unwrap the hand using 2 ID, one for the top side and the other for the palm side .. pulling the inbetween fingers's vertices in the UV view avoiding mapping deformation...
Some one see what I plan to do ?
Is it the good way ?

hey thank you guys (and girls!!!!)!

It's a real pleasure to see my character loved by everyone :)

That was the goal of "my" challenge...making something characterized

By the time I spend on it modeling her twisted body (maybe 20 hours ... but Time is a really variable thing while you are modeling :) I realized that modeling was just sooo easy if what I had in mind was perfectly clear ...

The Force is Flowing in my veins :)

Lorenzo : For sure
FryCook : Sorry man, my pics looks fine and downloadable
-OZ- : No Problemo

Have a nice weekend Guys (and girls!!!!)
