CGTalk - Free hair plugin?

Does anyone know any free hair plugin for 3D Studio MAX 4? I've found Shivas plugin, but that was only for 3.0... and that doesn't load with 3Dsmax4.
Can't afford Shag:Hair or Fur, and my demoversion just expired.

use clip maps, no need for plugs...most of the time

Oh Peter's Hair plugin is acually quite good. You really need to sit an play with it for some time, but you can get some really good results out of it. Unfortunatly the only thing it needs, that its missing, is crash detection. This was the case 6 months ago when I last used it.

If you still need a plugin or tutorial on hair, www.cgm3d.com has a large links list of places you can go to and get all kinds of stuff like that.

if you like hair for no realistic look you can make it whit freehandtools script of Fread moreau.

you colud make a great cartonish hair.

like Daniel Martinez Lara makes with this character.
