Raze - BAS, I have to ask this because this is now the third time you have posted in this section:
Is this a PROPER paying job? The last time you posted you also mentioned contractual payment, yet the people who responded via email were told that it is a "pay when completed" job.
Please specify HERE NOW what the payment for this job is.
If it is not a paying job (ie it is a "we don't have a publisher yet but you will be paid if we get one" situation), then please let me know so that I can move it to Collab Team Projects.
Thanks a lot :)

Leigh,
I'm not sure why, if I've indeed talked to you before as you say, you translated this as a "pay when completed" job. Such would imply that the employee wouldn't see money until the completed product, no? This project is not like that by ANY means. All potential employees are invited to view our contract before they committ to anything on our team, in reassurance of its fairness to them and security of their intellectual properties.
We are scouting now for help for post-demo work. We are currently in the demo stage of our game, which is about 50% complete. Our project is currently without a budget. Nintendo of America has been contacted of our situation and they are expecting a playable demo of our game so they may consider it for approval and provide a budget to finish production. The candidates for employment AREN'T EXPECTED to work until the budget is acquired, which we are currently slating for August 2003. However, many of the employees already on the team have decided to assist with the demo on a backpay basis. All work done now will be reimbursable when the budget comes in. As an added incentive, the monthly payment until game completion will be $1,500 greater than those people who begin work once the budget is acquired. This means that a person who begins work when the budget arrives might make $3,000 per month. The person who worked with us before the budget was obtained will then make $4,500 per month PLUS be paid $4,500 for every month since they joined the team. The numbers of course vary, based on the allotment we get for our budget.
A quick review:
-Accepted applicants are not expected to work until the budget arrives (approximately August 2003)
-Accepted applicants have the option to start working right away to aid us with the completion of the demo (and speed the process of acquiring our budget)
-Accepted applicants who opt to help us with the demo will be reimbursed for each month before the budget is acquired, paid at full rate.
-Accepted applicants who opt to aid us with the demo will receive an extra $1,500 to their monthly payment as a thank you from the company.
I hope this is all clarified.

Thanks for that clarification, Randy :)
No we have not spoken before, I am responding because of comments posted by others who emailed you before about these positions, and were told that it is not a currently paying job.
Since this forum is for paying jobs ONLY, I just needed to clarify this with you so that people know what the situation is before they respond.
Thanks.

Leigh,
Not a problem. In some of the past postings a few of the fine details were still being hammered out, which is likely what caused the confusion. What you see here is the finished sculpture of our hiring policy. My apologies for any confusion to those here.

In reguards to the Model unwrapping position; Is this a position in whichs the artist creates UV maps. I am guessing you guys are using Maya?!

Keith - mailing address? what are you looking to send in the post? Being in NYC, its a little dangerous to just post our mailing address online in our current times. If you need my mailing address though, email me at raze@brokenattitude.com and I'll shoot it to you. No anthrax, please. ;)
Annie - Yes, UV mapping, unwrapping and texturing are really all part of the texture artist's job, at least in the traditional sense. The position posted was more of a focus within the field of texture artist, since unwrapping can be a long and bothersome process for some people. Also, yes we are using Maya for all modeling and animation for the game.

Ancient - Most are still in progress. =\ They're not quite ready for publicappearances yet ;)
However, you may have run into our lead modeler on here on CGTalk. He goes by Fetus23 on here... he recently won 3rd place in the lord of the rings race challenge.

We do have some stuff in the wroks. There will be more, and now that we finally have some skinners coming in, the work will surely progress. =)

That's such a great idea, no NYC address posted - 'cause everyone knows that terrorists are targeting not City Hall or NBC, whose addresses are readily available - but rather tiny animation facilities that nobody has ever heard of! :thumbsdow

Thanks :) Most of those shots are fairly old, except for the indoor shot showing off our shadowing system. Our new engine build will be coming soon, plus most of our art team is settled in now. Much of the team are recent installments, which explains the lack of models in those screens.

We are pleased to announce that we have succesfully filled our available spots. Thank you to all the applicants. We were completely overwhelmed with the flood of amazing talent that came from people here at cgtalk.com!
At this time we are no longer taking applications for any positions. We look foward to being able to add more talent in the future as a thriving game development house! :)
