Hello guys

Im using XSI Mod Tool for a long time now and I decided it's time to buy XSI
the thing is I have no idea if I should wait for 7 or not.
The main reason Im thinking to wait is the particles however as far as I know
7 is not in the horizon yet so I have no idea what to do.
I would like to get some advice from you guys.

My advice is to wait until Siggraph has finished. Most big announcements about software improvements/new versions/etc happen there. (Although this time, version 6 wasn't really announced until mid-November'06.) After that you'll have a better idea about what to do. At least wait for the next point release of version 6.

...At least wait for the next point release of version 6...

most service packs are free. so unless your talking about a .5 version it wouldn't matter to wait for it.

but waiting for siggraph is always a good idea...

Thank you guys I forgot about siggraph, I will wait for it.

BTW
I saw in softimage website that they add scripting to XSI FND, is it true?
Can you write scripts with FND?

That's not new... you could write scripts in FND since day one.

I don't know if they are adding Scripted Operators to fnd. It is only advanced scripting feature not available in fnd. If you have a link about the addition, would be easier to comment, just is as JDex wrote.

As far As I know you couldn't create new scripts in XSI FND, just use
scripts that were created in ESS or ADV, anyway the reason I thought
about it is that I saw wha't new in XSI FND (http://www.softimage.com/products/foundation/whats_new.aspx) and in the bottom you can see
stuff about the scripting, I also checked the features & specifications page
and I tried to compare it with the other versions.

Nah, Scriting you may do and use freely in fnd. You can't create scripted operators, but can use them in models created in Ess or Adv. Scripted Operator is an operator you can add to scene object. It has other purposes than simply launching a script in script editor.

I understand, I thought that scripting and scripted operators are the same thing
but I see I made a mistake anyway thank you all for your help.
Can't wait for Siggraph :)
