This is a test for Villian in the up comming short film Robot Rescue, I am going to add a trail for the rocket upon launch, any feedback good or bad would be helpfull.

the animation was done in maya, the character was re-modeled from and earlier version and re rigged to accomodate extra facial controls and other` gadjets`

Hey it looks like your off to a good start. I like your model a lot. As for the animation I would try to rework it. The robot looked really stiff in the arms and the overall movement didn't look to mechanical.

Also the camera movements where sporadic and didn't add to your shot at all. I would suggest watching maybe some Godzilla movies or some other similar Monster movies. Try for the low camera shots to grasp the size of your monster robot. Maybe some camera shake on the steps of his movement.

In all it's a good start keep up the good work.

I was also told by my friend he did not look ten foot tall, and the camera should be lower to the ground! however the home video feel was what I was going for(but home video with a jet pack I was not;)
I had a look at the iron giant for reference after I did my peice(which is basically a spoof of th godzilla like films in style;) and I have to agree his weight needs to be elaborated in his walking (like the sandman when he first stands up in Spiderman 3)

:)Thanks Again for the Feedback!!!

I now have to turn this thing into a toon render, like the iron giant, but it may take some time to get the right curves (lines) in the right places, as the toon shader is limited really to few surfaces without intersections, so I have to model them instead and use reverse sufaces on a slightly bigger scale.

You guys are spot on about the camera moves, I rushed through the camera layout to get this thing for a test render I also forgot to add motion blur, but that all will be fixed soon, but as always its great to get feedback, Thanks!:D

Thanks Chris,

My team are now working out the look for the peice, and we may go for a toon like rendered look, I'll post it once we figure out the look, then we can move onto the next step, but I'd still like to add to this test as all the controls and gadjects are used for this character (except for the rocket boots, but tis may be a post effect):)
