for our game, we need to smooth-skin our characters in a way, that each vertex is influenced by at most two joints. Starting from a default skinning with 2 max influences, is there a way to prevent maya from normalizing the weights over more than two joints while painting? Or has anyone a script (and is willing to share), that distributes the weights accurately over the two joints with the highest
influences?
"Set max weights" isnt useful, it doesnt seem to recognize further weightpainting, and resets the values.
