HELP! I have found very little information about re-arranging the input nodes within Maya. Although William Raveane was quite helpful in his response to my other question (http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=44240) about input nodes.

So I think I understand the order, with things on the BOTTOM of the list happening first. And someone told me that I could rearrange the order of the input nodes by MMB (Middle Mouse Button) dragging the items in the input list. My problem is, some items in my list do not move when dragging. And depending on what items I am dragging, sometimes moving the input node causes the whole input graph to change drastically (with 4 or 5 inputs just disappearing).

I'll post a link to a image of my hypergraph showing the inputs of my object. Looking at the list it includes:

Cluster (EyeRt)
Cluster (EyeLt)
Ffd (Brow)
Blend Shape(parallelBlender) (What is this?)
Skin Cluster (Skin)
Cluster (Zygosmuscle)
Tweak (damn these things)
Blend Shape(Mouth Shapes)

So can anyone explain why some of these inputs cannot be re-ordered? It seems really random. And what is the ParallelBlender input? Seems to be associated to my Skinning input somehow. Finally, can someone explain the generally excepted order of blendshapes, clusters and skinning inputs? When I try to figure it out myself, my brain starts to hurt.

When you created your blendshape operation you must have picked the "parallel blender" option in the advanced tab. This is normally turned off by default. What it does is make it so that the blendshape operator is calculated at the same time as the deformers that were already on your model when you added it. So you get a "parallel" deformation of the two and not one calculated before another and the two deformations are "blended" together. This operation is linked with the Blendshape, so it probably cannot be reordered.
