View Full Version : Opacity in Photoshop...
DeathArtist 06-21-2007, 02:52 AM Hey CGTalk, I have a question about Low Opacities on Photoshop. When you're "stacking" the same colour over and over again on a certain space, is it supposed to make that space brighter or darker? For example, if I have a red colour set at 20% Opacity and kept colouring the same area over and over again, would it look darker or lighter? Help would be appreciated.

opacity is just the level of visibility of the pixels--there's no darker or lighter, only more visible. So depending on your background color, it can be both darker or brighter. For exmaple, if you have a black background, then your 20% opacity red will seem to get lighter as black is a much darker color than red. And it'll be the reverse if your background is white.
