CGTalk - unicode line breaks

Every once in a while I seem to have issues with line breaks... sometimes with parsing a text file in mel, sometimes when editing the maya.env file, etc...

I am wondering if I should do further research on unicode line breaks... is anyone else using this? does it matter?
