View Full Version : Rendering: SubD to Poly problem
Andrei2k 03-20-2003, 02:06 AM When I attempt to render a poly converted from subD with Mental Ray no image shows up and tells me that subD is unsupporeted. I deleted the cage and history of the poly and its a poly as far as maya is concerned but it still won't render..... Clueless. Thank You

that is correct. MR does not support Subd's just yet.
Dumb i know, but you could buy RenderMan Artist Tools, it supports subd's in the most amazing way....

huh, i misunderstood. Try exporting the object and reimporting into a new scene and see if that stops the madness...
good luck! I'll ask around here if any one knows what the deal is with that.

I"ve run into this before on smoothed poly shapes. For some reason Maya thinks polys that have been smoothed are actually sub-d's.
I just killed the history, and it all worked fine.
