This looks so nice! Seeing as Sony are doing Astro justice on the small screen, let's hope they can nail it with their all CG movie when it comes out!

You can't "Save Target As..." I found that out the hard way too.
You have to view it streamed.

A live action version it says.

Perhaps that's true, I have no idea. But the CG film has not been in development for some time.

I'd love to work on that! How fun!

It really looks like Astro is going to get the right treatment, let us hope the story is there to support it.

Sony are really getting a good foot hold, and i hope they do well.

The last time that page was updated was Feb 8th, 2002...

There really isnt an astroboy movie in development... I think the TV series is it.

I also heard a rumor that Astro Boy was going to be made into a feature film by SPI. But I heard it was actually going to be SPI's first full-length animated feature (NOT live-action).

It's gotta be a slip of the tongue.

Unless they are going for some sort of "realistic" CG.

In which case I will run far away! :p

*sigh*

All I can say is that Astroboy is no longer in production as of some time last year. It never really got far.

Sony Pictures Animation is working on a different as of yet unannounced project.

Awh pants! I was getting ready to send my reel over to SPI.
Oh well, maybe next time :-)

There seem like a lot of animations got started and then axed just recently, i wonder what the deal is. DreamWorks have done it, Disney have done it and it looks as though SPI have too. I believe that Fox has flirted with a bunch of projects since the days of Max Howard but i don't know of a one that made it past the first qtr.

Do these scripts look great on paper but translate poorly? Does the animation or the process let them down?

Sony was going to do their first 3D Feature with Astro Boy, but it got put on the back burner, no word if it's back yet.

Wow Fasty. You took the news pretty hard, huh?

Will 'Nemo' make you feel any better? Hope so. No more crying now, deep breaths, you can get through this... ;)

Nemo!

Still, he's no Astroboy..

Just got this from Imageworks (I had to write and ask if it was true)

We have a CGI feature film in development at Columbia Pictures, the script is being written at this time.
Thank you.

Hmmm....

Sony did buy the rights to Astroboy, many years back from a small production company

I have a friend who works for Imageworks....
He does assure me that they are working on a 3D Astro movie,
and it's in early production.

It's been put back twice!
But is still on the Sony Schedule.

The 3D TV Series was due to be released one year ahead of the
the movie. They were trying to gauge reaction to the new Astro series, before fully committing to the movie.

Both were initially designed to be released on the birthday of Tezuka, one year apart.

Multiple directors have been reported as working on the movie,
although i have no idea who it is currently.

Seems to be some confusion on it's path at this point....
If the TV series is well recieved, the movie will be put back on track.

My $0.20

That is indeed good news! I never doubted you for a second, Sony! :D

Hehe.

Well whatever guys. I've said as much as I can without getting in to trouble. All I'm saying is dont get your hopes up. If there's anything going on with astroboy, it's on the backburner, and not anything currently in production.
